We join together in fervent prayer for our national and world leaders, as the Scriptures urge us to intercede for all in authority. We are reminded in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings, and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.
Let us first give thanks to God for placing leaders and authorities over us, as Romans 13:1-2 tells us, Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and they that withstand will receive to themselves judgment.
We lift up the President, Vice President, and all cabinet members, praying for godly wisdom, guidance, and protection over them. We ask God to grant them the tongue of the wise, as Proverbs 15:2 says, The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge; But the mouth of fools blurts out folly. We pray that God would set a guard over their mouths, as Psalm 141:3 says, Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips.
We pray that our leaders would be surrounded by godly counsel and that their leadership would promote unity and righteousness, with no bitterness or rivalry. May they act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, as Micah 6:8 tells us, He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
We ask God to give angels charge over our leaders and world leaders abroad, as Psalm 91:10-12 says, No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
We agree in praying for godly unity among political parties, both nationally and internationally, that they would work together for the good of all nations, as Psalm 133 says, See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity.
We pray against any plans of the enemy to divide or destroy and ask for angelic protection and heavenly intelligence for our leaders, as seen in Psalm 91 and 2 Kings 6:12, Do not be afraid because there are more with us than with them.
Let us be the people of God who are called by His name and humble ourselves to pray and seek His face, as 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
We pray for wisdom in worldly leaders and protection of our leaders, Christian leaders, and civilians worldwide. We pray for the eradication of evil in elections, as Isaiah 33:15 says, He who walks righteously, and speaks blamelessly; he who despises evil profits, who stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil.
We pray for the silencing of false prophets and news, as Titus 1:11 says, who must be silenced because they overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain's sake.
We pray this in the Name of Jesus Christ, as Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved.
It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God.
Lord Jesus, we ask for your intervention in the lives of our leaders. Surround them with your favor and wisdom, and guide them in the path of righteousness. Let your will be done in their decisions and actions, and grant them the courage to stand for truth and justice.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
