We lift our hearts together in fervent prayer for our national, world, church, and civic leaders, standing on the truth of Godβs Word. First of all, we urge that prayers, petitions, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:1-4). We recognize that our duty to pray for those in authority is not contingent on our agreement with them, but on our obedience to Godβs command.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened for the leaders of our nations, churches, and communities. We pray for wisdom, humility, and discernment to rest upon them, that they may govern with justice, integrity, and a reverence for Your Word. We ask that You would raise up leaders who seek Your face, who stand for righteousness, and who are not swayed by the pressures of the world but are anchored in Your truth. For those who do not yet know You, we pray for their salvation, that their hearts would be softened to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ, the only name by which men can be saved (Acts 4:12). We declare that there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, and we pray that all leaders would come to this saving knowledge.
Lord, we also pray for the protection of our land and its people, as You have promised in Your Word. We ask that You would thwart the plans of the wicked and frustrate the schemes of those who seek to harm Your people or Your purposes (Psalm 33:10-11). We stand against the forces of darkness that seek to divide, deceive, and destroy, and we declare that no weapon formed against Your people shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We put on the full armor of God, that we may stand firm against the schemes of the devil, knowing that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:10-12).
We pray specifically for the fostering of godly alliances among nations, that they may stand together in truth, freedom, and the promotion of Your gospel. We ask that You would diminish the influence of evil alignments and eradicate false teachings that lead people astray. Father, we long to see the gospel advance unhindered, that men and women from every nation would repent and turn to You, making disciples of all nations as You have commanded (Matthew 28:18-20). We thank You for the leaders who seek to honor You, and we ask that You would strengthen and encourage them in their work.
We acknowledge that all authority comes from You, and those who are in positions of power have been placed there by Your sovereign will (Romans 13:1). We pray that You would guide them as channels of water in Your hand, directing their steps according to Your purpose (Proverbs 21:1). We confess that You work all things after the counsel of Your will (Ephesians 1:11), and we trust that You are working even now to bring about Your perfect plan. We submit ourselves to You, resist the devil, and stand firm in our faith (James 4:7).
Lord, we ask for Your loving-kindness and truth to surround our leaders, their families, and all who serve in positions of authority. We pray for angelic protection over them, that no harm would come near them or their households (Psalm 91:10-11). We declare that Christ, who is in us, is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4), and we trust in Your promise that whatever we ask in Your name, You will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13).
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We offer these requests with thanksgiving, knowing that Your peace, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7). We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords, to whom be all glory, honor, and power forever and ever. Amen.
