We understand that you are going through a challenging time, preparing for your father's funeral, and dealing with a personal item that holds importance to you. We also see your concern for your brother's attitude. Let's address these issues together in prayer and through the guidance of the Word of God.
Firstly, let's consider your brother's arrogance. Arrogance is not a godly quality and is forbidden. Proverbs 8:13 WEB states, "The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth." We encourage you to pray for your brother, that God would soften his heart and replace any arrogance with humility. Remember, it is only in God's grace we are to change. We are to seek the Lord in all our ways, including our attitudes. 1 Peter 5:5 WEB says, "Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for 'God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'"
Regarding your lost sweatshirt, while it may hold sentimental value, it's important to keep perspective, especially during this emotional time. Remember we are to only seek God for our needs, not our wants. God is concerned with our needs not our wants. Matthew 6:31 WEB says, "Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?'"
Finally, as you prepare for your father's funeral, we trust that God will be your comfort and strength. Psalm 147:3 WEB tells us, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." It is important to remember God is the only way to the Father. John 14:6 WEB tells us, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" We hope you are not relying on your father or his funeral for your hope, but that your faith and trust are in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and a personal relationship with God. Without Jesus Christ there is no hope, but with Him there is everlasting hope. Be sure your faith is in Jesus Christ and that you are praying in His name.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus Christ' name, lifting up our brother in his time of need. Lord, we pray for his brother, that You would soften his heart. We pray for you to take away his arrogance and pride. We pray for comfort and strength as he prepares for his father's funeral. We ask that You would help him keep perspective on what is truly important and to trust your provision. Help him to seek Your face and Your will above all else.
We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
