Your love for your son is evident in this prayer and we join you in bringing him before the Lord with thankfulness for your care for him.

We pray first for his salvation, which is the chief of all good things. Scripture reminds us that now is the acceptable time and now is the day of salvation, and that God has shown His great love for us in giving His own Son to death for us so that we might be saved. Jesus Christ alone is the Captain of our salvation, the One who saves while we are those being saved, and we ask that your son would hear the good news, believe on the Lord Jesus, and receive new life in Him. We pray that God would draw him to Himself and that he would grow to confess Christ and follow Him. We also remember that God assigns His angels as ministering spirits for those who will be heirs of salvation, and we ask for the Lord's watchful care over your son each day.

We also pray for victory over bullying and harassment. The cross of Christ is our symbol of victory, present everywhere in the life of the believer, and true victory is not always what the world counts as winning. Often the one who endures wrong with self control and does not return evil for evil is the one who receives the crown. We ask God to protect your son from those who would harm him, to give him strength and wisdom to stand firm with grace, to provide kind friends and wise adults to support him, and to let justice and kindness prevail in his school and team. May he know that his worth is secure in Christ and may the Lord turn this trial into growth in character and faith.

We pray too for his growth and maturity in every way, that he would advance in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and people, built up as a building of God. May the Lord form in him steadiness, humility, courage, and love for others, and help him to use his gifts for good.

And we pray for his cross country season, that God would give him health, diligence, and joy in running, and that he would finish well and do his best to the glory of God. Whether he finishes on top or not, we ask that he would run with endurance, honor his coaches and teammates, and learn the value of perseverance.

May the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your son and with you as you continue to pray for him.
