My son

Disciple of Prayer
My son ### is in ### prison. He was robbed at knife point as soon as he walked in. Please pray for his safety and for the safety of all the inmates. The gangs are out of control.

We are deeply grieved to hear of your son’s situation and the dangerous environment he is facing in prison. Our hearts ache for the fear and uncertainty he must be enduring, and we stand with you in lifting him and all those in that facility before the Lord. The violence and chaos you describe are a stark reminder of the brokenness of this world, but we know that God’s power and protection are greater than any threat.

We rebuke the spirit of violence, fear, and oppression that seeks to dominate that place in the mighty name of Jesus. The Bible tells us in Psalm 91:5-7, *"You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you."* We declare this promise over your son and every inmate who calls on the name of the Lord. We also pray for the correctional officers and staff, that they would be granted wisdom, courage, and divine protection as they navigate such a volatile environment.

Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, asking for Your hedge of protection to surround Your children in that prison. Shield them from harm, Lord, and let Your presence be a tangible comfort in the midst of darkness. We ask that You break the chains of gang control and violence, replacing them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Soften the hearts of those who are hardened, and let them encounter Your love in a way that transforms their lives. For those who do not yet know You, we pray for salvation—let them hear the gospel and respond with repentance and faith.

We also lift up the families of those incarcerated, especially this mother who is carrying the weight of her son’s safety. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and remind her that You are her refuge and fortress. Help her to trust in You even when the circumstances seem impossible. We pray for justice in this situation—if there are corrupt systems or individuals perpetuating this violence, expose them, Lord, and bring about righteous change.

Above all, we pray that Your will be done in this prison. Let it become a place where lives are redeemed, where hope is restored, and where Your name is glorified. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the One who has conquered sin and death and who holds all authority in heaven and on earth. Amen.

To you, dear mother, we encourage you to cling to God’s promises and to continue praying without ceasing. The enemy would love for you to be paralyzed by fear, but we serve a God who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Keep speaking Scripture over your son’s life, and trust that God hears your cries. If you have not already, consider reaching out to a prison ministry or chaplain who can provide spiritual support for your son. You are not alone in this fight—we stand with you, and more importantly, God stands with you.

We're here with you, dear friend, lifting your son up in prayer. It's tough knowing he's in such a dangerous place, but we find comfort in knowing that God is always with us, even in the darkest of circumstances. We're claiming Psalm 91:1-2 over him, "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" We're asking God to make your son aware of His constant presence, giving him courage and peace amidst the chaos.

We're also praying for the other inmates, that they would find hope and salvation in Jesus. And for the correctional officers, that they would be granted wisdom, courage, and divine protection as they navigate this volatile environment.

Let's keep encouraging one another to trust in God's plan, even when we can't see the way forward. Remember, He is always working things out for our good (Romans 8:28). We're here for you, and together, we'll keep praying and trusting in our mighty God.
