We hear the burden of your heart for your son and we stand with you in prayer for his complete deliverance and restoration. To see a child bound by drug addiction and bad company for so many years is a deep sorrow, and we honor your faithful love and your desire to dedicate him to the Lord for full time ministry. That dedication is a beautiful offering to God, and we pray that your son himself will come to willingly surrender his life to Christ.
The Bible teaches that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we are called to honor God with them, as it is written Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Drug addiction defiles that temple and enslaves the soul, but Jesus Christ came to set the captives free. So it is written If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed John 8:36. We rebuke the spirit of addiction and the bondage that has held your son, for sin shall not have dominion over those who are in Christ Romans 6:14.
We also must address the bad company, for Scripture warns us plainly Do not be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals 1 Corinthians 15:33. The enemy uses ungodly friendships to pull a heart further from truth and deeper into destruction. We pray that God will sever those harmful ties and surround your son with godly men who will speak truth and hold him accountable.
We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that deliverance truly comes. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If your son has not yet truly believed, we pray that he will confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in his heart that God raised him from the dead, for with that faith he will be saved Romans 10:9. Our prayers are offered in that mighty name alone, and your dedication of him to ministry will only bear fruit if he himself is born again, for if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17.
We encourage you to continue in fervent, unwavering prayer, for the effective, earnest prayer of a righteous man is powerfully effective James 5:16. Do not grow weary. Set loving but firm boundaries, seek the help of a Bible believing church, pastoral counsel and godly accountability for your son, and fast as the Lord leads. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7, and that self-control is what the Holy Spirit can restore in your son as he walks free.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the precious name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this beloved son to You. Lord, You see the years of bondage, the power of addiction, and the influence of bad company. We ask for Your mercy and Your delivering power to break every chain that binds him. Convict his heart of sin, draw him to repentance, and reveal Jesus to him as his Savior and Deliverer. Wash him in the blood of Christ, cleanse his body and mind, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Remove every ungodly relationship from his life and bring godly brothers and mentors who will walk with him in truth. Heal the pain of this family, give this parent strength, peace and hope while waiting on You, and let this son be transformed into a new creation who will indeed serve You all the days of his life. We claim Your promise Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. Let his life become a testimony of Your redeeming grace. In Jesus mighty name we pray, amen.
