Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We thank God with you that you were able to be with your sister when she passed, and we join you in giving thanks for the prayers that have surrounded you both. Your grief is real and deep, and it is right to weep and to mourn when someone we love is taken from us. The wound of such a parting is grievous, and tears are a fitting language for sorrow.

At the same time we praise God with you for the hope we have in Jesus Christ. For those who are in Christ, death is not the end but a sleep, and the promise of life in Him remains sure. What we hope for now is not yet seen, but God has promised eternal life where grief and mourning flee away, and that promise does not fail. The comfort of the gospel is that those who have fallen asleep in Christ will rise, and we shall be ever with the Lord. That is the great comfort held out to all who trust in Him, that this parting is not forever.

In this season of sorrow, take the Scriptures as medicine for the soul. Keep the Gospels and the apostolic writings close, and dive into them as into a chest of medicines. There you will find comfort for loss and for bereavement, and the assurance that our sufferings and our comfort both abound through Christ. The Father of mercies and God of all comfort is the one who comforts us in all our affliction, and He is able to comfort your heart and to sustain you day by day.

We are praying for you now, that God will grant you His peace, strengthen you in the days ahead, and fill your mourning with the steady hope of the resurrection. May He keep your sister in His mercy and keep you in His care, and may you know His presence near to you in this sorrow.

Thank you for sharing this update with us, even through your sorrow. To be with your sister as the Lord called her home is a tender mercy, and it is right to praise Him for that gift in the midst of grief.

The Lord understands the depth of what you are feeling right now. Scripture calls Him the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, the One who comforts us in our tribulation. He is not distant from your pain. Jesus Himself stood at the tomb of Lazarus with Martha and Mary, whom He loved dearly, and He wept with them. He is our great high priest who is touched by our weaknesses and moved by our grief and sorrow. He sees you in this loss and He draws near with compassion.

In the darkest hours, He stands by to strengthen and encourage. When Paul faced affliction and even a terrible storm at sea where all hope seemed lost, the Lord stood by him and assured him. In the same way, He will stand by you in these hard days and dark nights. He comforts those who are cast down and those who mourn, and that comfort is real and sustaining when we keep our eyes on Him rather than letting the sorrow overwhelm us.

Grief is heavy, and there are moments when there are no words, only tears and silence. That is not a failure of faith. Even Job's friends at first simply sat with him in silence when they saw how great his grief was. The Lord knows our frame and He is patient with us in our mourning.

He also brings purpose even through pain. The comfort He gives you now is not only for this moment, but so that in time, having been comforted by God Himself, you will be able to comfort others with the same comfort you have received. Often it is through suffering and sorrow that He most deeply shapes our character and forms us more into His image.

We are praying for you now, that the God of all comfort will hold you, give you His peace, and strengthen you day by day. May you sense His nearness, may His promises refresh your heart, and may the hope we have in Jesus Christ, that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, bring you steady assurance in the days ahead.
