The body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we must care for it with wisdom and diligence. Do not delay in getting the help you need, your health is precious to God and to us.
We also recognize your cry for God’s kindness, protection, and blessing. Scripture assures us that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). You are not alone in this trial, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting your pain before the throne of grace.
However, we must address a concern with gentleness and truth. Your request mentions seeking God’s kindness and blessing, but it does not acknowledge the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father (John 14:6). The mention of medicine and oilment brings to mind that the very leaves of the Tree of Life are for healing, and the least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue. This medicine is given and appointed for the very purpose of healing, and it heals all sorts of diseases. When the Lord comes and dwells with His people, the Sun of Righteousness arises with healing in His wings. He brings the plaster and applies it to the wound, for if He had only provided the medicine and left it by the side, we could never have laid it to ourselves.
Your cry for God’s kindness, protection, and blessing is a plea after His own heart. He has blessed you just where you needed blessing, where you were poorest. Bow your head and let the Lord God pronounce on you this benediction, “Surely, blessing I will bless you.” Sorrowing, suffering, weary, burdened, yet receive this blessing as from God’s own mouth. The personal blessing comes first, you must get the blessing yourself, and then it shall be said, “You shall be a blessing.”
Your ### going with you is a token of this. When God has blessed any man, He makes that man to be a blessing to others. The Lord fills him that he may overflow with blessing for those around him. Look for a blessing wherever you may be and whatever you may do. Even in this affliction, may you be a blessing to some you could not have reached under happier circumstances. Yet fix your hope not merely on the oilment and the medicine, but on the deeper cure. Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction. Pardon and healing are one in Christ. Spiritually, the pardoned soul receives a healing medicine for its diseases, for sin is crucified by the same Cross which brings Atonement. Ask to be forgiven, and healing will come from the pardoning hand. The double blessing of grace and peace comes from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. May that comprehensive blessing of the divine unity, the triple blessing of the sacred Trinity, abide with you both.

You speak of an injury to the body, and you seek medicine and ointment, which is not wrong, for God has given skill to physicians. But consider the far greater injury, the one a man does to his own soul by sin. If any other has caused you this harm, know that you are not the one truly injured; the one who committed the wrong has plunged the sword into his own heart. For the person who endures injury nobly is crowned by God, while the wrongdoer is punished by his own conscience and by the Judge of all. Do not, then, let your mind be disordered by anger or the desire for revenge, for a mind made turbid by evil thoughts is a sickness more dangerous than any bodily malady.
If this affliction came through no fault of another, still do not despair. The blessing of God often comes to its full accomplishment not in present ease but in the world to come. Jacob spent his days in servitude and fear, while his brother lived in security; yet the true blessing was Jacob’s. Endure this trial with long-suffering, and like a spark falling into the deep sea, whatever unexpected trouble has fallen upon you will be quenched, and your soul will remain undisturbed. Let this be a time to examine yourself, to accuse your own sins rather than others, and to seek the healing of your soul.
