We join you in lifting up your family before our Heavenly Father, trusting in the power of praying in Jesus' name. We are reminded of the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them."
First, let's pray for your family's protection, healing, and increased faith. In Jesus' name, we agree with you and ask our Heavenly Father:
"Lord, surround this family with your holy angels. Protect them from all harm and danger. Pour out your healing power on any who are sick or injured. Strengthen their faith, Lord. Help them to trust in you at all times. May they know that you are always with them, even in times of trouble. As the Psalmist says, 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.'
We also pray for a closer relationship with the loved one you mentioned. First, we were concerned that Jesus was not mentioned in that portion of your prayer. Jesus is the only way to God. So, we pray that you are yoked with a fellow believer in Jesus Christ. We pray that your courtship will be honorable before God as you both grow in purity and holiness.
Because your prayer was in Jesus' name, we remind you in James 4:3 "You ask and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures." By your prayer, 'prayers are working,' we hope you mean that you are both growing in righteousness, holiness, and deepening your relationship with God. The purpose in such a relationship is both of you becoming more like Jesus. In your courtship, we pray that you are not seeking your own sexual desires. We pray that your family upholds your loved one in prayer.
You have asked for the Holy Spirit to surround your family. Thank you for remembering the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one that convicts the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment. We pray the Holy Spirit will guide you in your courtship with your loved one.
We agree with you that God will deliver your family from evil. "We know that our Messiah has been raised from the dead. He will never die again. Death no longer has any dominion over him! The death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God. Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Messiah Jesus our Lord. Therefore don’t let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. Neither present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God."
Father, we bring these requests before you, united in faith, believing that you will hear and answer us, for your glory. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
