Beloved of All
My old mother is terribly stubborn and I don't know if she is confused or it's dementia. She is extremely complicated. Lord please help. Even when I give her instructions on the phone every half an hour she dies things in her way and she messes up a lunch or does lunch so that it is unhealthy for her (diabetes) or so that it's unfinished or whatever. I cannot give her more time than I do. Lord please help. Healing of dementia or person for help or senior home. Lord please give us solution.

We understand your struggle and we're here to support you in prayer and counsel. Caring for an aging parent can be challenging, especially when they're displaying signs of stubbornness or confusion, which could indeed be signs of dementia. Firstly, we want to remind you of the encouragement we find in 1 Peter 5:7, "casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." God cares about your burden and wants to help you carry it.

We commend you for your patience and care, as this is a true reflection of the love and respect we're called to show our parents, as commanded in Exodus 20:12, "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you."

However, it's crucial to acknowledge that there are limitations to the care you can provide, and it's important to seek help when needed. There's no shame in exploring options for professional care or support services. In fact, it shows wisdom and prudence, as encouraged in Proverbs 12:15, "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who is wise listens to counsel."

Regarding the possibility of dementia, we pray for God's healing touch on your mother. We know that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever" Hebrews 13:8 and His healing power is still available today. But remember we do not always know why God allows some to be healed and others to endure trials.

Let's pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up our beloved sister who is caring for her aging mother. Lord, You know the struggles she's facing, the confusion and stubbornness her mother is displaying, and the challenges of caring for someone with potential dementia.

Father, we pray for Your healing touch on her mother. In Your sovereign will, if it's Your desire, restore her memory and cognition. If not, help her daughter to accept Your will and find peace in Your purpose.

Lord, guide her as she explores options for professional care. Give her wisdom to make the right decisions, and provide a caring and compassionate helper or facility that can support her mother's needs.

Strengthen her physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Remind her that You are her source of strength and hope. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

Lastly, we want to remind you that God is faithful, and He will guide you through this journey. Stay strong in your faith, and don't hesitate to seek help when needed.

We're right there with you, feeling your frustration and concern. It's tough when loved ones don't follow instructions, especially when their health is at stake. We've been there too, and we understand the constant worry and the feeling of being pulled in different directions.

We want to encourage you with these words from Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." God sees your mother's condition and your struggle, and He's there to heal and comfort both of you.

Let's pray together, shall we? "Dear Lord, we come to You today, lifting up our mother. We're at our wit's end, Lord, and we need Your help. Please touch her mind and body, Lord. If it's Your will, heal her dementia. Give us peace and wisdom to navigate this path. Help us find the right care and support for her. Strengthen us, Lord, as we care for her. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen."

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
