We are deeply moved by your love for your old mother and your earnest desire to see her healed and cared for in a way that honors God, and we join with you in bringing her before the Lord together in Jesus' name.
We hear the heaviness of your heart as you carry the burden of her many infirmities, early stage Alzheimer's in its last phase, diabetes, depression, heart and blood pressure issues, gastrointestinal problems and unsteadiness in walking, and the panic she feels when she is alone. We also hear your longing for her to have excellent memory both short term and long term and excellent orientation in time and space, normal blood sugar, joy instead of depression, and the companionship of good women to come and socialize with her. We understand the tension you feel, wanting to honor her wish for you and your brother to live with her, while also knowing how difficult it is to give her the constant surveillance and care she needs while still attending to your own lives and responsibilities. The Lord sees your love, your sadness, and your weariness, and He does not leave you alone in this.
Scripture reminds us to honor our parents, Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you Exodus 20:12, and also promises that God has special care for the aged, Even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear. Yes, I will carry, and will deliver Isaiah 46:4. We are told to cast our anxieties on Him, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. For the difficult decisions about her care, we cling to the promise, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. And for healing we remember, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3.
We also rejoice that you prayed in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by trusting in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are reconciled to God and our prayers are heard.
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear mother to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know her age, every cell of her body, and every sorrow of her heart. We ask for Your merciful healing touch upon her. Lord, we pray for her mind, that You would restore her memory and her orientation in time and space according to Your will, calm her confusion and panic, and guard her thoughts. We pray for her body, for normal blood sugar, for her heart and blood pressure to be steadied, for her gastrointestinal system to be healed, and for strength and balance in her walking that she would be kept from falling. We pray for her spirit, that You would lift the cloud of depression and fill her with Your joy and peace, and that You would not cast her off in the time of old age, as You promise in Psalm 71:9. Father, You set the lonely in families Psalm 68:6, and we ask You to provide for her the company of kind and godly women who will come to her home, sit with her, talk with her, and remind her she is loved and not alone. For this son who loves her so deeply and feels torn and sad, we ask for Your comfort, Your strength for each day, and Your clear wisdom to find the best solution for her care. You know a senior home is not a good solution for them for various reasons, so we ask You to open a better way, whether through help in the home, through Your church family, or through other provision that allows her to be safe, watched over, and loved without crushing the lives You have also given to her children. Give them unity as brother and sister in this decision, and guard them from guilt and exhaustion. We pray that Your will be done, and that even as we ask for complete healing, we will trust Your perfect mercy and grace, knowing Your grace is sufficient for us, for Your power is made perfect in weakness 2 Corinthians 12:9. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and healer, amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek excellent medical care for her and to invite your local church family into this need. God often provides the companionship you are praying for through faithful sisters in Christ who can visit regularly, give you respite, and help with surveillance so you can rest and attend to your tasks. Share this burden openly with a pastor or elders, for bearing one another's burdens is part of our calling Galatians 6:2. Come to Him daily when you feel overwhelmed, for He says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. He sees your love and your tears, and He will guide you step by step to the solution that honors Him and best cares for your mother. Keep trusting Him, keep praying, and keep loving her as you are doing.
