Beloved of All
Your care for your mother is precious and it reflects the command of God to honor father and mother. That honor is not only words but practical care, especially when parents grow old and can no longer care for themselves as they once did. The Lord sees your love and your intercession for her and He is pleased when children bring their parents to Him in prayer.
You are right to bring her directly to Jesus. There was a mother who came to Him desperate for her daughter who was afflicted, and she would not go away until she received help. Her faith triumphed because she kept pressing in. In the same way, keep coming to Jesus for your mother with persistent faith. Faith is often activated when we reach out to Him and trust Him to touch the need.
I want to encourage you about healing. The Scripture says of Jesus that He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. God is able to heal and healing is for today. At the same time, the Gospels show that Jesus did not heal in only one way. Sometimes He healed instantly with a touch or a word, sometimes the healing was gradual, and sometimes it came through the natural processes of healing that God Himself placed in our bodies. All true healing is from God, whether it happens in a moment or step by step through doctors, proper care, and the body’s own restoration. We do not always understand why some are healed instantly and others gradually, and we must not turn healing into a frenzy or a show. Real healing is not manipulation. It is a quiet, sovereign work of God in response to sincere faith.
So we will pray for your mother in that balanced, trusting way, asking God for His touch while also trusting His wisdom and His timing.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear mother before You. You know her by name and You love her. We ask You to touch her mind and keep it clear. Grant her good memory, both short term and long term, and steady orientation in time and place. Protect her from confusion and from disease of the mind. Lay Your hand upon her body and bring her blood sugar into normal, healthy balance. We ask for freedom from diabetes and for strength in her body.
We also ask You to fill her heart with Your joy and lift any heaviness or depression. Replace loneliness with Your peace and presence. Thank You for the two friends You recently sent to be with her and for the satisfaction that brought her. You saw how that encouraged her. We ask that You would continue to provide companionship for her, especially in the afternoon hours when she is alone, that someone would be there to talk with her, to encourage her, and to remind her she is loved and not forgotten.
We trust her into Your hands, believing You are able and You care. Help her family to continue to honor her with love, attention, and practical help. Let Your will be done in her life and let her know the comfort of Jesus near her each day. Amen.
