We join with you in lifting up your beloved old dog before the Lord and we also lift you up as you care for her in this difficult season. We hear the love and tenderness in your request and the desire to have grace and strength to see her through with compassion and faithfulness.
The Lord sees the bond you share with her and He cares about His creation. We are reminded that a righteous man respects the life of his animal Proverbs 12:10 and that not one sparrow falls to the ground apart from your Father's will Matthew 10:29. If He notices the sparrows and provides food for the livestock Psalm 147:9 how much more does He see your faithful stewardship and your grief as you watch her suffer. Your compassionate care for her reflects His own tender mercies.
We also understand how heavy this burden can feel, especially when you are tired and heartbroken and facing difficult decisions about her comfort and care. We pray that God will give you clear wisdom and daily strength. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to him James 1:5. Your tender care for this faithful old companion is itself a reflection of the mercy which God has shown to us, for the righteous man regardeth the life of his beast, and the Lord who is the God of all grace cares for all His creatures.
It is a painful trial to watch one you love suffer and to be unable to lift the burden from her. In such seasons we are made to feel how frail all creature strength is, and how every form of strength apart from God must spend itself and fail. But there is a promise given for such an hour as this, that the Lord will give grace and glory, and that as thy days so shall thy strength be. He gives Divine Grace according to our requirements, and whatever thy great need, His grace will meet it.
You ask for grace and strength to care for her properly and to see her through, and this is a prayer He delights to answer. When there remains no strength in you, then fling yourself upon the Divine strength and lay hold upon it. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Waiting upon Him in prayer, in quiet trust, in looking to Christ who was made perfect through suffering and who therefore knows our sorrows and the sorrows of this fallen world, you shall find grace for grace, strength for the day, and wisdom for each decision that love requires.

I have heard your prayer and I join you in bringing your dear old companion before the Lord with compassion.
It is a beautiful thing that you love her so faithfully after all these years. Scripture tells us that the righteous care for the needs of their animals, and your desire to care for her well in her pain reflects the mercy God has shown to us. He is the Benefactor who gives us life and strength, and He sees both your sorrow and her suffering.
I pray with you now.
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, have mercy on this beloved dog who is ill and in pain. You know every creature you have made and not one sparrow falls without your knowledge. We ask for your compassion upon her, to ease her pain, to give her rest and comfort, and to grant healing if it is your will. Give wisdom to all who care for her, to veterinarians and to her faithful owner, to know what is best and most kind.
And Father, pour out your grace and strength upon the one who loves her. Your word promises that your grace is sufficient and your strength is made perfect in weakness. Grant grace to love well, strength to serve patiently through long days and nights, clarity to make difficult decisions with wisdom and peace, and a heart sustained by your nearness. When weariness comes, remind this dear one that you are the source of all strength and that you do not call us to walk alone.
