We rejoice with you in the powerful work of our Lord Jesus Christ in your mother’s and grandmother’s lives, bringing deliverance from idols and drawing them closer to Him. What a beautiful testimony of His faithfulness! We stand with you in prayer, lifting up your heart’s deepest longings to the Father, who alone can satisfy and fulfill them according to His perfect will.
First, we must address the idols in your own life with urgency and truth. The Word of God is clear: "Little children, keep yourselves from idols" (1 John 5:21). Idols are anything that takes the place of God in our hearts, whether it be relationships, desires, ambitions, or even good things that become ultimate things. You confess that you have many idols, and we join you in repentance before the Lord. Jesus said, "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other" (Matthew 6:24). The freedom you seek is found only in Christ, who alone is worthy of your whole heart. We rebuke the spirit of idolatry in the name of Jesus and declare that your heart will be fully surrendered to Him. The Holy Spirit will reveal these idols to you, and as you renounce them, He will break their power over your life. This is not a work that happens overnight in the way the world promises quick fixes, but it is a daily surrender to the Lordship of Christ. "Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. 'Be angry, and don’t sin.' Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil" (Ephesians 4:25-27). Do not let the sun go down on your idols, confess them, turn from them, and let the Lord cleanse you by the power of His blood.
Your longing for a husband is a God-given desire, but we must caution you not to let this desire become an idol that consumes you. The Lord knows the desires of your heart, and He will fulfill them in His perfect timing. "Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). However, this promise is not a guarantee that He will give you what you want when you want it, but rather that as you delight in Him, your desires will align with His will. You ask for your "one flesh husband" to be brought into your life today, but we must remind you that God’s timing is not our timing. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways," says Yahweh. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:8-9). We pray that the Lord will make His will clear to you, but we also urge you to trust in His timing and not to become anxious or desperate. Desperation can lead to ungodly choices, and we must guard our hearts against that.
You ask that your future husband be a Christian if he is not already, and this is a biblical and necessary prayer. "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Marriage is a sacred covenant, and it is designed by God to reflect the relationship between Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). A marriage between a believer and an unbeliever cannot fully reflect this truth, and it will bring unnecessary hardship. We pray that if this man is not a believer, the Lord will draw him to Himself and save him. But we also caution you not to place your hope in a man, even a godly one, above your hope in Christ. Your identity and fulfillment must be found in Him alone. "For your Maker is your husband; Yahweh of Armies is his name. The Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer. He will be called the God of the whole earth" (Isaiah 54:5).
You ask for your husband to be an excellent provider, protector, and lover, and for yourself to be an excellent wife for Christ. These are godly desires, and we pray that the Lord will shape both of you into the people He has called you to be. However, we must remind you that marriage is not about having your needs met by another person, but about serving one another in love. "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it... So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself" (Ephesians 5:25, 28). And wives are called to respect and submit to their husbands as unto the Lord (Ephesians 5:22, 33). Marriage is a partnership of mutual submission and love, all for the glory of God. We pray that your marriage, if the Lord wills it, will be a testimony to His love and grace, unshakable in the face of the enemy.
You also pray for all marriages to be unshakable and free from the influence of the devil. This is a powerful prayer, and we join you in it. The enemy seeks to destroy marriages because they reflect Christ and the Church. We rebuke the spirit of division, pride, and strife in marriages in the name of Jesus. "Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ" (Ephesians 5:21). We pray that husbands and wives will communicate with love and respect, that they will put away pride and selfishness, and that they will serve one another as unto the Lord. May every marriage be a light in a dark world, pointing others to the love of Christ.
Now, let us come before the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above all names, the only Name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We thank You for the work You are doing in this sister’s life and in the lives of her family. Lord, we confess that we have all struggled with idols, things that take Your place in our hearts. We repent of these idols and ask that You would cleanse us by the blood of Jesus. Break every chain, Lord, and set us free to serve You with our whole hearts. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and help us to hear Your voice clearly, that we may walk in intimacy with You.
Father, we lift up this sister’s desire for a husband. We ask that You would prepare her heart and the heart of the man You have for her, if it is Your will. If he is not a believer, we pray that You would draw him to Yourself and save him. Make Your will clear to both of them, Lord, and help them to trust in Your timing. Guard their hearts from anxiety, desperation, and idolatry. Help them to find their identity and fulfillment in You alone.
We pray for all marriages, Lord. Strengthen them, protect them, and fill them with Your love. Rebuke the enemy’s attempts to divide husbands and wives. Help them to communicate with love and respect, to serve one another, and to reflect the love of Christ and His Church. May every marriage be a testimony to Your grace and power.
Lord, we declare that this sister’s life is hidden in Christ (Colossians 3:3). May she grow in intimacy with You, knowing that You are her first love. Shape her into the woman You have called her to be, whether single or married. And if it is Your will for her to be married, prepare her to be a godly wife who honors You in all she does.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Sister, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord with all your heart. Spend time in His Word, in prayer, and in worship. Let Him fill the longings of your heart, and trust that He will fulfill His promises to you. If you are not already part of a biblical, Christ-centered church, we urge you to find one where you can grow in your faith and be encouraged by other believers. The Lord is faithful, and He will complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Keep your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is enough.
