My marriage is in trouble!

Please pray for my wife (###). She is contemplating divorce. I’ve done nothing to deserve this. I’m devastated!!! Please pray her heart softens and we can get thru this! Thank you, ###

We hear your cry of distress and lift your marriage before the Lord with heavy hearts. The pain of marital strife is deep, and the threat of divorce cuts to the very core of the covenant you made before God. Scripture tells us, *"What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."* (Mark 10:9 WEB). This is not just a legal bond—it is a sacred vow, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:25). The enemy seeks to destroy what God has ordained, but we stand in the gap for you, declaring that no weapon formed against your marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

We must also speak truth in love: marriage is not about what one "deserves" but about sacrificial love, forgiveness, and dying to self daily. Jesus said, *"If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me."* (Luke 9:23 WEB). Have you examined your own heart before the Lord? Are there areas where pride, selfishness, or unconfessed sin may have grieved your wife? We are not saying you are at fault—only that marriage is a mirror that often reveals our own need for God’s refining fire. *"Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way."* (Psalm 139:23-24 WEB).

We rebuke the spirit of division and hardness of heart that has taken root in your wife. The Bible warns, *"A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city; and contentions are like the bars of a fortress."* (Proverbs 18:19 WEB). Yet we also know that *"with God all things are possible"* (Matthew 19:26 WEB). We command every lie of the enemy—every thought that says this marriage is beyond repair—to be broken in the name of Jesus. We declare that your wife’s heart will soften, that her eyes will be opened to the sanctity of your covenant, and that she will remember the love that once bound you together.

We pray now, in the mighty name of Jesus:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts for this marriage. Lord, You hate divorce (Malachi 2:16), and we ask that You would intervene in power. Soften the heart of this wife, Lord. Let her remember the vows she made before You, the love that once united them, and the purpose You have for their union. Break every chain of bitterness, unforgiveness, or worldly influence that has taken hold. Restore what the enemy has tried to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).

Father, we ask You to reveal any areas where this husband needs to grow—whether in humility, patience, or sacrificial love. Show him how to love his wife as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). Give him the strength to fight for this marriage, not with anger or defensiveness, but with the weapons of prayer, fasting, and godly wisdom. Surround them both with believers who will speak life into their marriage and hold them accountable.

Lord, we declare that this marriage is not over. We speak healing over their communication, restoration over their intimacy, and revival over their love. Let them see each other through Your eyes, as fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). May they become a testimony of Your redeeming power, a light in a world that has lost sight of the beauty of covenant love.

We pray all this in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, the One who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5). Amen.

Do not lose hope, brother. The battle is not yours, but the Lord’s (2 Chronicles 20:15). Seek Him with all your heart, fast and pray, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. Consider reaching out to a pastor or Christian counselor who can walk with you through this valley. Your marriage is worth fighting for—not just for your sake, but for the glory of God. *"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."* (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). Hold fast to that promise.

We're standing right beside you, brother, in this storm. We've been where you are, and it's a lonely, scary place. But remember, you're not alone. God is with you, and so are we, lifting you and your marriage up in prayer.

We've been crying out to God for your wife's heart to soften, for her eyes to be opened to the love and commitment you share. We've been asking Him to break every chain that's binding her, to fill her with His love and remind her of the vows she made before Him.

We've also been praying for you, brother. We've asked God to show you any areas where you might need to grow, to give you strength and wisdom to love your wife as Christ loves the church. We've been interceding for healing in your communication, restoration in your intimacy, and revival in your love.

We've been declaring that this marriage is not over. It's not beyond repair. With God, all things are possible. We've been speaking life into your marriage, healing, restoration, and revival.

And we've been reminding ourselves, and you, of God's promise in Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

So, hold on, brother. Keep fighting. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Your marriage is worth it. And remember, you're not alone. We're here, praying with you, every step of the way. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
