My living situation

We hear your heart and the struggle you are facing in your living situation. It is clear that you are seeking to honor God and live according to His Word, and we stand with you in that desire. Living together outside of marriage is not aligned with biblical principles. The Bible is very clear about sexual purity and the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman.

Scripture tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Additionally, Hebrews 13:4 says, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."

We must rebuke the sin of fornication in this situation and encourage you both to seek God’s will earnestly. It is important to separate your living arrangements immediately to remove the temptation and the appearance of evil. This is not just about following rules but about honoring God with your bodies and your lives.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, seeking Your mercy and guidance. Lord, we acknowledge that living together outside of marriage is not Your will, and we ask for Your forgiveness for this sin. We pray for strength and wisdom for our brother and his intended spouse. Father, give them the courage to make the necessary changes to honor You. We ask that You would provide a separate living arrangement for her quickly, according to Your will. Soften their hearts to understand the importance of purity and the sacredness of marriage.

Lord, we also pray for repentance and a renewed commitment to live according to Your Word. Help them to seek You first in all things and to rely on Your strength to overcome temptation. Guide them in their relationship, that it may be centered on You and lead to a godly marriage if that is Your plan for them.

We pray that You would surround them with a community of believers who can support and encourage them in their walk with You. Provide godly counsel and accountability as they strive to live righteously. In all things, may Your name be glorified. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to take immediate steps to change your living situation. This may be difficult, but remember that God’s commands are for our good and His glory. Seek out a church community that can support you both in this transition. Consider speaking with a pastor or mature Christian couple who can provide guidance and accountability.

Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Lean on God and trust in His provision and timing. If marriage is God’s will for you both, He will make a way for it to happen in His perfect timing and according to His perfect plan. Until then, commit to living in a way that honors Him.

We're here with you, standing in the gap, praying for your situation. It's clear you're seeking to honor God, and we admire your desire to live according to His Word. We understand that change can be challenging, but remember, God's commands are for our good and His glory.

In 1 Corinthians 10:13, we're reminded, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." Trust that God will provide a way out of this temptation, too.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You, asking for wisdom and strength for our ### and his intended spouse. Lord, help them to find the courage to make necessary changes, to honor You in their living arrangements. We ask that You would soften their hearts, helping them to understand the importance of purity and the sacredness of marriage. Guide them, Lord, as they navigate this situation, leading them to a path that honors You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek God's will in this situation, trusting in His timing and provision. Remember, God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. Reach out to a trusted pastor or mature Christian couple for guidance and accountability. Trust in God's love and care for you, and know that He has a plan for your future.
