We hear your heart's desire for these last two months of the year to go smoothly, for provision to obtain what you need, and for life to continue well into the next year and the years ahead, and we join together with you to bring this before the Lord.
We want to gently encourage you to align these desires with God's will and His perspective on provision and the future. It is good to have plans and lists, but Scripture reminds us that our lives and our days are in His hands and not our own to guarantee. You desire that everything go perfect and smooth, yet God has not promised a life without difficulty, but He has promised to work all things for good for those who love Him and to be with us through every season. James 4:14-15 says, Whereas you do not know what will be on the next day. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. For you ought to say, If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that. And Prov 16:9 says, A man's heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps.
We also want to lovingly address the focus on buying everything on your lists. God delights in providing for His children, and Phil 4:19 assures us, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Yet we are called to seek contentment and to guard our hearts against covetousness and the love of material things. 1 Tim 6:6-8 says, But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can't carry anything out. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that. And Matt 6:33 teaches us, But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Our prayer is not just that you would obtain everything you desire, but that your desires would be shaped by Him, that you would delight in Him first, and that you would find joy and peace whether the lists are fully completed or not. Psalm 37:4 says, Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Phil 4:11 says, Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We share this in love because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through His name that we are saved. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord. Rom 10:9 says, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray and have confidence that God hears us.
So we pray together for you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You on behalf of this dear one. We thank You that You are sovereign over every day, every month, and every year. We ask according to Your will that You would grant peace and steadiness in these final two months of this year, and that You would provide for every true need. Give wisdom in stewardship, help to use resources faithfully, and grant contentment and gratitude whether much or little is obtained. Guard this heart from anxiety and from finding identity or joy in possessions, and help to seek first Your Kingdom. We ask for Your mercy to carry us into the next year if it is Your will, for our times are in Your hands, and we pray for health, protection, and Your continued goodness in the years to come. Above all, draw this one closer to Jesus, deepen faith and trust in You, and let Your perfect will be done in every plan and every list. We trust Your good plans, for Jer 29:11 says, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. And we rest in Rom 8:28, We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, amen.
