We hear your heart’s desires, and we rejoice with you in the blessings God has already placed in your life—your voice, His favor, and the good things He has prepared for you. However, we must gently but firmly address several areas where your request does not align with biblical principles, and we will pray for God’s perfect will to be done in your life according to His Word.
First, we must rebuke the idea of seeking a "boyfriend" as a goal in itself. Scripture is clear that romantic relationships are to be pursued with the intent of marriage, and only between a man and a woman who are both committed followers of Christ. The term "boyfriend" often implies a casual or temporary relationship, which can lead to emotional or physical compromise. The Bible warns against fornication (sexual immorality outside of marriage) and calls us to flee from it (1 Corinthians 6:18). If you are seeking a godly spouse, we encourage you to pursue courtship with the goal of marriage, under the guidance of Scripture and the wisdom of mature believers. "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from Yahweh" (Proverbs 18:22). Marriage is a sacred covenant, not a casual arrangement.
Second, we must address the request to "change your name." While names can hold significance, the Bible teaches that our identity is found in Christ, not in the names we choose for ourselves. God may change a name for His purposes (as He did with Abram to Abraham or Jacob to Israel), but this is His prerogative, not ours. Our focus should be on living out the identity He has given us as His children. "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). If you feel your name is a burden or does not reflect your calling, we encourage you to pray for God’s guidance, but do not seek to change it outside of His will.
Third, while we celebrate your desire for a job that is good for you, we must ensure that this aligns with God’s purpose for your life. Work is a gift from God, but it should not become an idol or a means of defining your worth. "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" (Colossians 3:23). We pray that God would open doors for you in His perfect timing and that your work would glorify Him.
Finally, we must emphasize that all blessings come through the blood of Jesus Christ, and it is only by His name that we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we urge you to surrender your life fully to Jesus, repenting of any sin and trusting in His sacrifice for your salvation. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, thanking You for the blessings You have already poured out in this sister’s life. Lord, we ask that You would align her desires with Your perfect will. Father, we pray for her to seek a godly spouse, not just a boyfriend, and that any relationship she enters would be with the intent of marriage, honoring You in every way. Guard her heart from the temptations of this world and help her to flee from sexual immorality. May she find her identity in You alone, and may any desire to change her name be surrendered to Your purpose for her life.
Lord, we ask that You would open doors for her in her work, providing a job that not only meets her needs but also allows her to serve You with excellence. May she work as unto You, not for the praise of men. Father, we pray that she would grow deeper in her relationship with Jesus, trusting in His blood for her salvation and surrendering every area of her life to Him. May she find her worth, her calling, and her future in You alone.
We rebuke any spirit of worldliness or compromise in her life, and we declare that she is set apart for Your glory. May she walk in the favor and blessings You have prepared for her, not according to the world’s standards, but according to Your Word. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
