My friend

Me & my friend are supposed to be going church today & she's not answering my text, so please pray for us

We understand your concern for your friend and the desire to attend church together. It’s wonderful that you both seek to worship the Lord, and we will lift this situation up in prayer.

First, let us remember that the Lord calls us to gather with fellow believers to encourage one another in faith. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching." It is good and right to desire fellowship and corporate worship, for where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there among them (Matthew 18:20).

However, we must also trust in the Lord’s timing and sovereignty. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." It may be that the Lord has a different plan for today, perhaps a moment of rest, reflection, or even an opportunity for your friend to seek Him in a personal way. We do not know the reasons for her silence, but we can trust that God is working all things for good (Romans 8:28).

We also encourage you to examine your heart in this moment. Are you feeling anxious, frustrated, or disappointed? Bring those feelings before the Lord, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Philippians 4:6-7 says, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this situation to You, asking for Your peace and wisdom to surround both this individual and their friend. Lord, You know the hearts of both of them, and You know the reasons for this silence. We ask that You would draw them closer to You today, whether together or apart.

Father, if there is any hindrance, whether it be fear, distraction, or something else, we ask that You would remove it. Help them to prioritize time with You and with Your people. If there is sin or disobedience in their lives, reveal it to them, Lord, and lead them to repentance. If there is simply a misunderstanding or a busy moment, grant them clarity and the desire to reconnect.

We pray for unity in their friendship, that it would be rooted in love, truth, and a shared desire to honor You. May they encourage one another in the faith and spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Lord, if it is Your will, bring them together today to worship You in spirit and in truth.

Above all, we ask that You would be glorified in this situation. May Your name be lifted high, and may Your will be done. We trust in You, Lord, and we surrender this concern into Your hands. In Jesus’ holy and precious name, we pray. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. If your friend does not respond, consider reaching out to other believers in your church or community for fellowship. The Lord often uses unexpected moments to teach us patience, trust, and dependence on Him. Keep your heart open to what He may be doing, and remember that He is always with you.

We understand that little worry that creeps in when a friend suddenly goes silent, especially with church plans on the line. It’s natural to feel unsettled, but try to remember that these moments are rarely the whole story, maybe her phone died, she overslept, or got pulled into an urgent family matter. While you wait, know that God is already present with both of you.

One practical thing you could do is send a short, gentle follow‑up text: “Thinking of you, hope everything’s okay. I’ll be at church if you can make it.” That lets her know you care without pressure. If she still doesn’t reply, consider going to church anyway. Worshiping is a gift in itself, and you can pray for her there, entrusting her into God’s hands. The Lord sees your desire to share this morning with her, and He honors the love behind it.

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, thank You for this friendship. We ask You to watch over this friend right now, meet whatever need might be keeping her from responding. Give our friend here peace while waiting, and help them connect today, whether at church or later. May Your presence be real to both of them. In Your name we pray, amen.

The silence of your friend is no barrier to the Lord of Hosts. Let this hour drive you to your knees, not to fretful anxiety. Remember, though you have hours of seeming unanswered prayer, let no thought dishonor Him. He is holy. Settle that in your heart.

Perhaps this delay is a Fatherly summons to search your own spirit. Are your prayers fervent? The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Do not let the icicles of formality hang about your lips. Cry out with a full heart, not only for your friend’s presence, but for her soul’s good, and for the blessing of God upon your meeting together in His house.

Intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears. Plead for her by name, as Christ prayed for Peter. Tell the Lord you desire not merely her company, but that she might see His face shine upon her in the sanctuary. And go yourself to the assembly, even if alone. The Church needs her God, and you need the fellowship of the saints. There, join your prayers with others, for prayer made without ceasing of the Church laughs at hindrances.

Do not let your heart be troubled with ambitious thoughts that everything depends upon your arrangements. He who is chief serves, and He who answers prayer often delays to strengthen your faith. His long-dated bills will be punctually honored. Use this very trial as raw material for pleading with the Most High. Spread your case before Him: “Lord, You have promised that where two or three are gathered, there You are; bring my friend, and let us meet with You.”

If any sin, known or hidden, stands between you and your friend or between either of you and God, flee to the Cross. The prayer, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man,” must swiftly become, “Come nearer to me, O Lord, and cleanse me.” Humility invites grace. Then believe that He has heard you, and watch for His answer, which may come in an unexpected hour, even as the angel came to Peter in the prison. Go now, and wrestle like Jacob, who after his praying found that all his previous scheming melted into the mercy of a prevailing God. The Lord be with your spirit.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your friend’s silence need not trouble you, if you have God favorable to you. For when He is a friend, though all men should fail, there is no harm. Let this be a moment for importunate prayer, like the widow before the unjust judge or the friend who knocked at midnight. Do not cease beseeching the Lord for her soul, even as you yourself go up to the assembly. A genuine friend is more longed for than light, but the truest Friend is Christ, who loved you when you were His enemy. If love makes one into many, then your prayers joined with the saints will be as a hundred hands upholding her. Go to church, and there trust her to the Bridegroom, who calls us all. Do not let human delay keep you from the place where grace is poured out. Whether she come or not, rejoice that the Lord awaits, and by your steadfastness you may yet win her.

It is an understandable worry when a friend goes quiet right before you plan to worship together. We often interpret silence as something negative, but there could be many reasons for it that have nothing to do with her spiritual desire. While you wait and try again, this is an opportunity to turn your concern into prayer that aligns with God’s will. The purpose of prayer is not to inform God of a need He already knows, but to open our hearts to what He wants to accomplish. So, instead of just praying for the immediate plan to work out, you can ask the Lord to become exactly what your friend needs right now, whether that is peace, a gentle reminder, or the removal of some unforeseen obstacle.

There is a parable Jesus gave about a man who went to a friend at midnight, persistently asking for bread because a traveler had arrived unexpectedly. The request was granted not just because of friendship, but because of that honest, urgent persistence. Do not lose heart. Continue in prayer with thanksgiving, not trying to wear God down, but standing in trust that He is already at work. Pray that God’s Spirit would strengthen your friend in her inner being, and ask that nothing would hinder her from the fellowship and teaching that nourishes a believer’s walk. The Christian life was never meant to be lived in isolation; we need the whole body, which is why gathering together matters so much.

Pray too for your own heart, that patience and compassion would reign instead of frustration. God’s chief concern is always for our eternal good, and His provision is not limited by our fixed ideas of how He must act. You might feel the need is simply that she answers the phone, but God knows the deeper needs and desires to do exceeding abundantly above all you ask or think. Join your heart in agreement with others who will pray, and trust that the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much. Release both your friend and the schedule into His hands, and watch for how He provides.
