Beloved of All
My friend is convicting me. She has a boyfriend. I prayed here asking God for an opportunity to repair our friendship but I asked God for a bit more. That if it was in His will to let me have her as mine. She read this here and wants me to apologize. God hasn't convicted my heart. I asked Him and it appears the answer is no. I don't ask for this to be anymore.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Psalms 51:10–12
When David committed adultery with Bathsheba and covered it up, Nathan the prophet came to him and told him a parable about a rich man who took a poor man's only sheep, when he already had many. After David burned with anger Nathan told him: You are the man!
David said that his sin was always before him. He repented and his prayer is recorded in Psalm 51. In verse 12, David asked God to restore the joy. Joy was one of the first things that left, the joy of serving the Lord.
I didn't lose my joy though. My confession is to her not God. I asked a question God said no. David had an affair, killed a man and tried to hide from God. I've been totally out in the open. I just had love in my heart for someone. That is my guilt. If God doesn't want that in my heart may he take it away.
It is best to get it over with immediately when Your heart is convicted of sin, stand up and say, "I am the one!" instead of waiting for God (or someone else) to confront us with it and walk joyless the whole time. If you ask God will forgive you, and the mistake becomes history, rather than a mystery of what may become of it.
Lord I confess to You that I idolized my friend over You and I'm truly repentant and sorry. Your my God not her. Amen
