We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation with fervent prayer and seeking His wisdom and justice. First, we must acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is by His name alone that we are saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we encourage you to do so, for He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).
Father God, we lift up this brother in Christ who is facing this legal battle and financial strain. Lord, You see his heart and the burden he carries. We ask that You grant him favor in the eyes of those who will judge this case, and that Your perfect will be done. We pray for wisdom and discernment for him as he navigates this difficult season, and we ask that You provide for his every need according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Strengthen him in his weakness, Lord, and remind him that Your grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9).
We also lift up his ex-wife, Lord. We pray that You would soften her heart and reveal Your truth to her. If there is a spirit of control, manipulation, or Jezebel at work in her life, we rebuke it in the name of Jesus and ask that You break its power over her. Help her to see the harm she is causing and turn from it, seeking Your peace and righteousness instead (James 4:7).
We must address the issue of the divorce agreement, as it appears the original terms may not have been just or biblically sound. Scripture teaches that we are to provide for our families (1 Timothy 5:8), but it also warns against being unequally yoked or bound to unfair obligations (2 Corinthians 6:14). While we do not know all the details, we encourage this brother to seek godly counsel—both spiritually and legally—to ensure that he is not being taken advantage of or enabling sinful behavior. The Lord desires justice and mercy (Micah 6:8), and we pray that this situation would be resolved in a way that honors Him.
Father, we also pray for this sister who is interceding on his behalf. The weight of carrying others' burdens can be heavy, but You have called us to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). Strengthen her in her faith, Lord, and remind her that You are her refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1). Help her to release this burden into Your hands, trusting that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or oppression in this situation, declaring that no weapon formed against this brother shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We speak peace over his heart and mind, and we ask that You would bring clarity, resolution, and restoration where it is needed. Lord, we trust in Your justice and Your timing. May Your name be glorified in all of this.
In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
