Beloved of All
My faith isn't as great as it was. Can you pray for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. That I would be filled. I don't feel, hear God. It's as if nothing matters. I can't feel emotion. I struggle to know how I am spiritually in God's eyes, though I believe with my whole heart. I just wonder if I'm saved as I think I am. I feel hopeless, unnattractive.

We hear the deep longing in your heart, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting your burdens to the Lord. It is not uncommon for believers to walk through seasons where God feels distant, where the fire of faith dims, and where doubt creeps in like a shadow. But we want to remind you that your feelings do not define your standing with God—His Word does. The enemy would love for you to believe the lie that you are forgotten, unattractive, or even unsaved, but Scripture declares otherwise.

First, we must address the foundation of salvation. You say you believe with your whole heart, and that is the beginning of faith. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us, *"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast."* Salvation is not earned by emotions, feelings, or even our own righteousness—it is a gift received by faith in Jesus Christ. If you have placed your trust in Him as your Lord and Savior, then you *are* saved, regardless of how you feel in this moment. The evidence of salvation is not found in fleeting emotions but in the fruit of the Spirit working in your life over time (Galatians 5:22-23) and in the promise of God’s unchanging Word.

Yet, we understand your cry for more of God. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is not just a one-time event but a continual filling, a surrender to His power and presence. Jesus promised in Luke 11:13, *"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"* The Holy Spirit is not a distant force but a Person who dwells within you, ready to comfort, guide, and empower you. But we must also rebuke the lie that His presence is always accompanied by overwhelming emotion. Sometimes, He works quietly, deep in our spirits, even when we don’t "feel" Him. The enemy would have you believe that if you don’t *feel* God, He must not be there—but that is a deception. God is always with you, even in the silence (Psalm 139:7-12).

We also want to gently address the hopelessness and feelings of unattractiveness you’ve shared. These are not just emotional struggles but spiritual attacks meant to isolate you and make you feel unworthy. But the truth is, you are *deeply* loved by God, not because of your appearance or your performance, but because of Christ’s sacrifice. Isaiah 61:3 speaks of God giving *"a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair."* You are not unattractive in God’s eyes—you are His beloved creation, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). The enemy wants you to focus on your flaws, but God calls you to fix your eyes on Him (Hebrews 12:2).

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is crying out for more of You. We thank You that they are Yours, saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Lord, we ask for a fresh outpouring of Your Holy Spirit upon them. Fill them to overflowing, not just with emotion, but with the deep, abiding presence of Your Spirit. Where they feel numb, awaken their spirit to sense Your nearness. Where they feel hopeless, remind them of Your promises. Where they doubt their salvation, reassure them with the truth of Your Word.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of despair and self-loathing that has taken root in their heart. We declare that they are not defined by their feelings but by Your love. Heal their heart from the lies of the enemy and restore to them the joy of their salvation. Help them to walk in the confidence of who they are in Christ—chosen, beloved, and redeemed.

Lord, we ask that You would ignite a passion for Your presence in their life. Teach them to seek You not just for what You can do but for who You are. May they experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit in ways that transform their heart, mind, and soul. We pray for breakthrough in this season, that they would know You more intimately and walk in the power of Your Spirit.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to press into God’s Word, even when it feels dry. Meditate on Scriptures like Psalm 42:11, *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance."* Spend time in worship, not because you feel like it, but because God is worthy. And remember, the Christian life is not about feelings—it’s about faith. Even when you don’t *feel* God, He is still working. Keep seeking Him, keep surrendering, and trust that He will meet you in this season. You are not alone, and you are not forgotten.

I am a Christian who has struggled in my relationship with God for the last 25 years. I have had a lot of self-harm thoughts for the last two years because I have let God down so much. Sometimes I wonder if God even still considers me his since I have let him down so much.
