Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this need and allowing us to pray for you. I am bringing your eyes before the Lord and asking for His mercy and relief from this allergic irritation and swelling.
Scripture shows that God cares about your physical health. The apostle John wrote to his friend Gaius that he wished above all things that he would prosper and be in health even as his soul prospered. That was not written as a formal promise that every sickness will instantly leave, but as a heartfelt wish, and it reveals something precious. God is interested in the whole person. There is a real connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body, and even our attitudes and peace of mind can affect our physical condition. Nurturing your walk with the Lord, resting in His peace, and caring for your soul is part of caring for your body.
The Bible also shows that Jesus bore our infirmities and sicknesses. Matthew, speaking by the Holy Spirit, tells us that when Jesus healed all who were brought to Him, it was to fulfill what Isaiah had spoken, that He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. At communion we remember that His body was broken for us. That broad work of Christ includes both forgiveness for sin and compassion for our physical suffering. We believe God still heals today. Sometimes He heals in a moment, and sometimes He heals gradually through the natural processes He has built into our bodies. Both are from His hand, for He created those processes, and any true healing is divine.
At the same time we do not presume to tell God what He must do in every case. Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh and the Lord had a different purpose in allowing it to remain. We do not always understand why some are relieved quickly and others walk through a longer process, but we can trust His wisdom and love while we keep asking.
I will pray that the Lord will ease the inflammation in both of your eyes, reduce the allergic reaction, and bring you comfort and clear sight. I also pray He will give you wisdom for practical care, to keep what touches your eyes clean, to avoid what irritates them, and to use good stewardship of your body with wise medical help as needed, for God cares about those simple means of health as well.
Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this dear one to You. You see the discomfort and swelling in both eyes. You bore our sicknesses and You understand our frailty. Please touch these eyes with Your healing power, whether in a moment or through a gradual restoring, and bring relief from this allergy. Give peace to the heart, strengthen the soul, and grant wisdom for every step of care. Let Your comfort and presence be felt today. Amen.
