This is an exciting time for your daughter and your family as you consider this marriage proposal. Remember that marriage is a sacred covenant, a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, as ordained by God. Let us pray for God's will to be done in this situation and for wisdom and discernment for your family.
Firstly, we need to acknowledge the centrality of Jesus Christ in our lives and prayers. It is only through His name that we can approach God the Father, and it is only through faith in Him that we can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB: There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your will and guidance for our daughter and this marriage proposal. We thank You for bringing this young man and his family into our lives and we ask for Your discernment as we consider this union.
Lord, we pray that this young man is a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and that he fears God and keeps His commandments. We ask that You would reveal any red flags or concerns that we need to be aware of. Guide our daughter and our family through this process, and help us to trust in Your perfect plan for her life.
Father, we also ask that You would prepare our daughter to be a godly wife, as described in Proverbs 31:10-31 WEB. Help her to be a woman of noble character, worth far more than rubies. May she bring her husband good, not harm, all the days of her life.
Lord, we know that You hate divorce, as it is written in Malachi 2:16 WEB: For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel, and him who covers his garment with violence! says Yahweh of Armies. Therefore keep yourselves holy, and don't be unfaithful to Yahweh our God.
Help our daughter and this young man to understand the sanctity and permanence of marriage, and to enter into it with soberness, reverence, and commitment.
Finally, we pray for Your protection over our daughter and our family during this time. Keep us from anxiety and worry, and help us to rest in Your perfect peace.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray and seek God's will for your daughter and this potential marriage. Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths. Be sure to include Jesus Christ in all prayers and decisions. As it is written in Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB: Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
