We understand your deep concern for your daughter’s beloved cat, Jasper, and we join you in lifting this situation to the Lord in prayer. However, we must address something important before we proceed. In your prayer, you invoked the name of "St. Anthony," asking for his intercession. Yet Scripture is clear that there is only one Mediator between God and humanity—our Lord Jesus Christ. As 1 Timothy 2:5 declares, *"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."* There is no biblical basis for praying to or through saints, angels, or any other created being. Our prayers must be directed to God alone, through Jesus Christ, who is our High Priest and Advocate (Hebrews 4:14-16, 1 John 2:1).
We also notice that while you addressed Jesus in your prayer, the focus seemed to shift toward a saint rather than resting fully in the sovereignty and love of Christ. Our trust must be in Him alone, for He is the one who hears and answers prayer. Jesus said in John 14:13-14, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."* There is power in the name of Jesus, and it is through Him—and Him alone—that we approach the throne of grace.
Now, let us turn our hearts fully to the Lord on behalf of Jasper. We know that God cares deeply for His creation, including the animals He has made. Matthew 10:29 reminds us, *"Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father’s knowledge."* If God is aware of even the smallest sparrow, how much more does He see and care for Jasper, who is precious to your daughter? We pray that the Lord, in His mercy, would guide your steps tomorrow as you search. May He open your eyes to see where Jasper may be hiding or lead you to those who might have found him. We ask for His peace, which surpasses all understanding, to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), whether Jasper is found or not. Ultimately, we pray that this situation would draw you and your daughter closer to the Lord, trusting in His goodness and sovereignty, even in moments of uncertainty.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this mother’s heart and her daughter’s grief over their missing cat, Jasper. Lord, You are the Creator of all things, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. You know exactly where Jasper is, and we ask that You would, in Your mercy, lead this family to him. Give them wisdom as they search, and let Your peace, which transcends all understanding, fill their hearts. Help them to trust in You, knowing that You hold all things in Your hands.
We also pray that this trial would be an opportunity for them to grow in faith, remembering that You are their Provider, Comforter, and Strength. Whether Jasper is returned to them or not, may they find their joy and security in You alone. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You collect every tear in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8). We ask for Your will to be done in this situation, and for Your name to be glorified.
Lord, we rebuke any fear or anxiety that may be creeping into their hearts. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Fill them with Your hope and assurance that You are working all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28).
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your love and Your perfect plan, even when we don’t understand. May Your peace rule in their hearts as they wait on You. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this matter, trusting that He hears you. Spend time in His Word and in prayer, casting all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). If Jasper is not found, we pray that the Lord would comfort your daughter and remind her that He is her ultimate source of joy and peace. Animals are a gift from God, but they are temporary. Our hope must always be fixed on Him, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Finally, if you or your daughter do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, we urge you to consider this: Jesus came to earth to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15). He lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day, conquering death. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). There is no greater peace or security than knowing that your sins are forgiven and that you have eternal life in Him. If you’d like to know more about salvation, we’d be happy to share further. May the Lord bless you and keep you in His care.
