We lift up your daughter and granddaughter before the throne of grace with heavy and hopeful hearts. The battle against addiction is fierce, but the power of Jesus Christ is greater still. We stand with you in agreement, declaring that the Lord’s strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Your daughter has taken a courageous step by completing detox, and now the real work of surrender begins. We pray she does not rely on her own strength but fully surrenders her struggles to the One who can break every chain (Psalm 107:14).
Father God, we ask that You would surround her with Your presence as she leaves detox. Let her feel the weight of Your love and the conviction of Your Spirit, drawing her away from the temptation to return to alcohol. Protect her mind from the lies of the enemy, who would tell her she cannot change or that she is unworthy of healing. We declare that she is a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), and that her past does not define her future. Fill her with a hunger for Your Word and a thirst for righteousness, that she may walk in the freedom You died to give her (John 8:36).
We also lift up her young daughter, Lord. You have entrusted this precious child to her mother, and we pray that this little one would see Jesus in her mother’s life, her words, her actions, and her love. Guard this child from the effects of addiction and instability, and let her grow up knowing the security of a home centered on You. We rebuke the spirit of fear that would tell your daughter she is incapable of being the mother her child needs. Instead, we speak Your truth over her: that You are her ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1), and that with You, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
Father, we ask that the legal and custodial concerns would be resolved according to Your will. You are a God of restoration, and we pray that the doors of foster care would not close permanently for this family. Give wisdom to the authorities involved, that they would see the genuine steps your daughter is taking toward change. Soften hearts and open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). We declare that this family will not be separated, but rather, that they will be knit together in love and unity, reflecting Your heart for the fatherless and the broken (Psalm 68:5-6).
We also pray for you, as the grandmother and caregiver. This journey is not easy, and we ask that You would sustain you with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give you strength when you are weary, hope when you are discouraged, and faith to believe that God is working even when you cannot see it. Let your prayers be a fragrant offering before the Lord, and trust that He hears every cry of your heart (Psalm 34:17).
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of addiction that has held your daughter captive. We declare that she is no longer a slave to alcohol, but a daughter of the King, set free by the blood of Jesus (Galatians 5:1). We pray that she would find a community of believers who will walk alongside her in her recovery, a church family that will encourage her, hold her accountable, and remind her of her identity in Christ. Surround her with godly influences who will point her to You, not to the temporary fixes of this world.
Finally, we pray that this family would come to know You more deeply through this trial. Use this season of struggle to draw them closer to Your heart, that they may experience the fullness of life that only You can provide (John 10:10). May this be a testimony of Your redemption, a story of how You took what was broken and made it whole.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
