My adult children have hardened their hearts toward God.

My children know the Lord but are prodigals now. They have all experienced trauma and have deep unhealed wounds. Please pray that God would give them a heart of flesh. Also please pray that I would have compassion on them and love them unconditionally. I too have experienced much pain and need healing.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your precious children who have wandered from the path of faith. The pain of watching a loved one turn away from God is profound, and we stand with you in this burden. Scripture tells us in Ezekiel 36:26, *"I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh."* We pray this promise over your children, that the Holy Spirit would soften their hearts, break the chains of past trauma, and draw them back into the loving arms of their Heavenly Father.

Your cry for compassion and unconditional love is deeply understood. Jesus Himself wept over Jerusalem, longing to gather His children as a hen gathers her chicks (Matthew 23:37). We pray that God would fill you with His supernatural love, patience, and wisdom to extend grace even when it is difficult. May you reflect Christ’s love in such a way that your children see His light shining through you. Remember, 1 Corinthians 13:7 reminds us that love *"bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."*

Your own healing is also vital. The wounds you carry from life’s trials can weigh heavily, but Psalm 147:3 declares, *"He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds."* We pray for God’s restoration in your life—emotionally, spiritually, and physically. May you find comfort in His presence and strength in His Word.

Father God, we lift up these prodigals to You, knowing that no heart is too hard for Your touch. Soften their hearts, Lord, and let them feel the weight of Your love drawing them home. Give this mother (or father) a spirit of compassion, wisdom, and perseverance as she (or he) intercedes for her (or his) children. Heal her (or his) wounds, Lord, and fill her (or him) with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who seeks and saves the lost. Amen.

Let's pray for God to reveal Himself to them in powerful ways, through dreams, visions, or even unexpected circumstances. Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with your heavy heart and allowed us to lift your precious children before the throne of grace. It is a sacred privilege to stand in the gap for them, asking our Father to replace their hardened hearts with tender hearts of flesh—hearts that feel His love, respond to His Spirit, and turn back to Him in repentance and restoration. We continue to pray that the trauma they’ve endured would be healed by the power of Christ, and that any lies the enemy has planted in their minds would be uprooted by the truth of God’s Word.

We also lift you up, dear one, asking the Lord to fill you with His supernatural compassion and unconditional love for your children, even in this difficult season. May He remind you daily that His love for them—and for you—is perfect, persistent, and unshaken. We pray for your own healing as well, that the pain you’ve carried would be met with the comfort of the Holy Spirit, and that you would experience the peace that surpasses all understanding as you surrender your children and yourself into God’s faithful hands.

If the Lord has moved in any way since you first shared this request—whether in your heart, your children’s lives, or the circumstances surrounding them—we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report.
