We hear your deep concern for your mother and others in your life who are struggling, both physically and spiritually. Your love for them is evident, and we join you in lifting them before the Lord, seeking His healing, wisdom, and deliverance.
First, we must address the spiritual battle you’ve identified. The Bible is clear that demonic influence is real and that it can manifest in ways that resist godly counsel, cloud the mind, and even affect physical health. Jesus Himself cast out demons and gave His followers authority to do the same in His name. We rebuke every spirit of infirmity, fear, stubbornness, and deception that has taken hold of your mother and others like her. In the name of Jesus Christ, we command these spirits to loose their grip and flee, for "the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). Your mother’s resistance to sound advice and her reliance on supplements and medicine alone may very well be influenced by these forces, and we pray that the Holy Spirit would break through the darkness and open her eyes to the truth.
We also recognize the physical aspect of her suffering. While we do not dismiss the role of medicine, we know that the body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we are called to steward it wisely. Your suggestion for exercise is biblically sound—Proverbs 31:17 speaks of a woman who "girds her waist with strength and makes her arms strong." Even gentle movement can bring healing and strength, but fear and deception have kept her from embracing this. We pray that God would give you the words and the opportunity to encourage her, and that she would receive your counsel with humility. Your idea to do home exercises with her is inspired, and we pray that the Lord would help you remember and follow through with this act of love.
Your mother’s fear of doctors is another area where the enemy has gained a foothold. Fear is not from God (2 Timothy 1:7), and we rebuke the spirit of fear that has kept her from seeking proper medical care. We pray that God would replace her fear with faith and wisdom, and that she would be led to trustworthy medical professionals who can help her. Proverbs 19:20 says, "Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days." May she come to see the value in seeking both medical and spiritual help.
We also lift up the others in your life who are in a similar state. It is heartbreaking to see loved ones resist truth and walk in ways that lead to destruction, but we take comfort in knowing that God is sovereign and His love is relentless. We pray that the Lord would send laborers into their lives—people who can speak truth in love and break through the hardness of their hearts. We ask that He would soften their hearts and open their ears to His voice, for "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).
Most importantly, we must address the foundation of salvation. While your mother professes to be a Christian, we know that profession alone is not enough—it must be accompanied by a life surrendered to Christ. We pray that she would truly repent of any sin, including any involvement in practices that may have opened the door to demonic influence, and that she would fully submit to Jesus as Lord. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Christ that we have access to the Father. We pray that she would experience the fullness of life that comes from walking in obedience to Him.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear mother and all those in similar bondage, asking for Your healing touch—both physically and spiritually. Lord, we rebuke every spirit of infirmity, fear, stubbornness, and deception that has taken hold of them. We command these spirits to flee in the name of Jesus, for You have given us authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19).
Father, we ask that You would break the chains of fear that have kept this mother from seeking medical help and from embracing healthy habits. Replace her fear with faith, and give her wisdom to steward her body well. Help her to listen to the counsel of those who love her, including her child who has brought this request before You. Give this child the words to speak and the patience to persevere in love.
Lord, we pray for deliverance and salvation for this mother and all others like her. If there are areas of her life that are not surrendered to You, reveal them to her and draw her into repentance. Cleanse her heart and fill her with Your Holy Spirit, that she may walk in the freedom and victory that Christ has already won for her.
We also pray for the others in this family’s life who are walking in darkness. Soften their hearts, Lord, and open their eyes to the truth. Send laborers into their lives who can speak Your word with boldness and love. May they come to know You as Savior and Lord, and may they experience the abundant life You promise to those who follow You.
Finally, Lord, we ask for Your protection over this family. Guard their hearts and minds from the schemes of the enemy, and fill them with Your peace. Give them strength to stand firm in faith, even when they see loved ones resisting Your truth. We trust in Your goodness and Your power to save, and we declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
In the precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue standing in faith, even when it feels like your words are falling on deaf ears. Remember that God’s word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11), and He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Keep praying, keep loving, and keep speaking truth in gentleness and patience. The Lord sees your heart and your desire for your mother’s well-being, and He will honor your faithfulness.
