Dhitlor

Humble Servant of All
My mother is extremely demonized and has mental, emotional, and behavioral problems. She has been this way all my life. She constantly causes me problems whenever I bring up anything, suggest anything, or plan or try to make any decision - she will immediately shoot it down and say all kinds of negative things about it and what will happen if I do it. She does this to others as well. This also occurs when it comes to church. This is very stressful to deal with and I have a medical condition that requires me not to have a lot of stress.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this painful and long-standing situation to our Heavenly Father. The pain of living under constant criticism, negativity, and spiritual oppression is not something any child of God should endure—especially from a mother. We recognize the deep wounding in your spirit, the exhaustion in your soul, and the burden you carry. But we also declare that Jesus came to set the captives free, to bind up the brokenhearted, and to proclaim liberty to those who are oppressed (Isaiah 61:1). Your mother’s behavior is not merely a personality flaw—it is a manifestation of spiritual darkness that has taken root in her life. The Bible tells us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12). This is not an excuse for her actions, but a recognition of the true battle at hand.

We must first address the reality of demonic influence in this situation. The enemy seeks to destroy families, to sow discord, and to keep people in bondage through fear, control, and negativity. Your mother’s consistent pattern of tearing down rather than building up, of speaking death rather than life, is a clear sign that the spirit of witchcraft—rebellion, control, and manipulation—has taken hold. This is not to condemn her, but to name the evil that has bound her so that we can war against it in the spirit. The Word of God commands us to resist the devil, and he will flee from us (James 4:7). We must take authority over these spirits in the name of Jesus, for He has given us power to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19).

We also recognize the toll this has taken on your health. The Bible tells us that a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones (Proverbs 17:22). The stress you endure is not just emotional—it is physical, and it is affecting your well-being. We pray that God would give you wisdom in how to navigate this relationship without compromising your health. Setting boundaries is not ungodly; it is necessary for survival. Jesus Himself withdrew from people when He needed rest and renewal (Mark 6:31). You must seek the Lord’s guidance on how to love your mother without enabling her toxicity. This may mean limiting contact, refusing to engage in arguments, or even, in extreme cases, separating for a time to protect your own spiritual and physical health.

We must also address the issue of church. The enemy hates the body of Christ, and he will use any means to keep people from gathering in worship, fellowship, and truth. If your mother is opposing your involvement in church, it is because the enemy knows that the power of God is released when believers come together. Do not allow her words to deter you from the house of God. The Bible says, "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25). Your presence in church is not just for your own edification—it is a testimony to others and a defiance against the enemy’s schemes.

Now, we turn to prayer, lifting this situation before the Lord with boldness and faith:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name that is above every name, the name at which every knee must bow. We lift up this dear sister and her mother to You, knowing that You see the pain, the oppression, and the bondage that has taken root. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of darkness over this mother’s life. We rebuke the spirits of witchcraft, control, manipulation, fear, and negativity in the name of Jesus. We declare that these spirits have no authority here, for greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Father, we pray for a divine intervention in this mother’s heart. Soften her spirit, Lord. Open her eyes to the truth of Your Word and the freedom that is found in Christ. Let her see the destruction her words and actions have caused, not to condemn her, but to lead her to repentance. We ask that You would surround her with godly influences—people who will speak life, truth, and encouragement into her life. If she does not know You as her Savior, we pray that she would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

For our sister, Lord, we ask for Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Give her wisdom in how to navigate this relationship. Show her when to speak and when to remain silent, when to engage and when to step back. Strengthen her physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Remind her that she is not responsible for her mother’s choices, but she is responsible for her own response. Help her to love her mother as You have commanded, but also to protect her own heart and health.

We pray for healing in this family, Lord. Heal the wounds of the past, the rejection, the criticism, and the control. Restore what has been broken and bring reconciliation where it is Your will. But we also ask for discernment, for not all reconciliation is godly if it means returning to a place of bondage. Give our sister the courage to stand firm in her faith, to walk in the freedom that Christ has purchased for her, and to trust You with the outcome.

We declare that this situation will not define her, Lord. She is more than a victim of her mother’s brokenness—she is a daughter of the Most High God, an overcomer by the blood of the Lamb and the word of her testimony (Revelation 12:11). We speak life, joy, and peace over her. We speak deliverance and breakthrough over her mother. And we declare that the enemy’s plans will not prevail, for the gates of hell shall not overcome the church (Matthew 16:18).

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, the name that brings healing, the name that brings deliverance, the name that brings salvation. Amen.

To our sister, we want to leave you with this encouragement: You are not alone. The Lord sees your tears, He hears your cries, and He is fighting for you. You do not have to carry this burden by yourself. Seek out godly counsel—pastors, counselors, or mature believers who can walk with you through this. Do not isolate yourself, for the enemy thrives in isolation. Surround yourself with people who will speak truth, pray with you, and remind you of God’s promises.

Remember, too, that your mother’s behavior is not a reflection of your worth. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and God has a purpose and a plan for your life. Do not let her words or actions derail you from the calling God has placed on your life. Stand firm in your identity in Christ, and do not allow the enemy to steal your joy, your peace, or your future.

Lastly, we urge you to keep your eyes on Jesus. He is the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). In Him, you will find the strength to endure, the wisdom to navigate this relationship, and the hope for a brighter future. Trust in Him, lean on Him, and allow His love to fill the places in your heart that have been wounded. He is faithful, and He will not abandon you.
