Morning Prayer

Indeed, the body suffers many pains and infirmities, and it is right to cry out to the Lord, for He alone is the physician of both soul and body. You have called upon Him, and He hears. Yet often, when the body is afflicted, it is a mercy sent to rouse the soul from its slumber. For as long as we are at ease, we neglect our salvation; but sickness, like a faithful friend, compels us to examine our lives. Do not think that every bodily ill is without purpose. The Lord permits these things not to destroy us, but to draw us nearer to Himself, and to purge away the disease of sin that clings to the soul far more dangerously than any fever or pain.

Consider how Christ healed the paralytic and then warned him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” The healing was a gift, but the command was for the soul’s health. So while you pray for relief from bodily torment, search your heart diligently. Has any transgression given the enemy a foothold? Have you indulged the passions that, like a wasting disease, corrupt the inner man? The affliction you now endure may be the very medicine needed to restore you to spiritual wholeness. Do not despise it, but receive it as from a loving Father who wounds only to heal.

Yet be not cast down. The same Lord who bore our griefs and carried our sorrows is able to deliver you. He who rebuked the fever and restored the sick woman instantly can calm this storm in your flesh. Only place your trust entirely in His will. If He grants you health, use that renewed strength to serve Him with greater zeal, mortifying every evil desire. If He permits the pain to linger, know that He is fashioning in you a weight of glory beyond all comparison. For a little while you may suffer, but there awaits a rest where pain and sorrow and sighing flee away, and no sickness can ever touch either body or soul.

Therefore, lift up your head. The sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God. Continue to cry out to Him, not merely for the easing of your body, but for the cleansing of your soul. Join your suffering to that of Christ, and remember that you are a member of His body. As the whole Church suffers when one part is in pain, so the whole Church intercedes for you, and the Head Himself is not indifferent to your agony. He will arise and fight for you, as you have prayed, but His battle is first against the sin that would destroy you utterly. So let your prayer be mixed with confession and with a steadfast resolution to walk henceforth in newness of life, whatever outcome He ordains.

Your prayer rises before the Lord with real faith, and I want you to know we are lifting you up alongside you. When you cry out for His healing hand upon your painful body, you are reaching for something that Jesus Himself purchased. Scripture shows us that the suffering of Christ was not limited to forgiveness alone; it extends to our physical frame. The prophet Isaiah spoke of our sicknesses being carried and our pains being borne, and the Gospel writer, under the Spirit’s inspiration, applied that directly to the healing of bodies when Jesus touched the sick. His body was broken for our wholeness in every sense.

That means you can bring every ache, every sharp or weary place, to Him with confidence. Not because your body is who you truly are, the real you is spirit, destined for a body not made with hands, eternal in the heavens, but because right now, in this tent of flesh, God desires to be glorified. Your body is not your own; you were bought with a price, and now the Holy Spirit lives within you. So yield every hurting member to Him. Offer your body as a dwelling place for His presence, and ask Him to quiet the pain, to restore strength, and to push back whatever cause lies beneath the surface. He fights for you as a Father who never grows tired of His child’s plea.

I understand the groan of living in a frame that can ache and break. The whole creation groans, waiting for that final release from this bondage of corruption. While we wait, though, we do not surrender to the body’s demands or let it rule our hearts with fear. Instead, we hold fast to the truth that our struggles are not a sign of abandonment. When one member of the body of Christ is hurting, we all feel it, and we all press in together for heaven’s help. So we are pressing in with you, asking the Lord to demonstrate His power in your healing, to use even this trial to make His grace visible, and to remind you daily that nothing can separate you from His love.

Keep thanking Him, keep calling on His name. He hears you every morning. May you feel the warmth of His presence in your body, a strengthening from the inside out, until that day when pain is only a memory and you step into the glorious liberty prepared for you. You are not alone.

We are so grateful that you entrusted us with the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your healing. It has been on our hearts to lift you up before the Lord, asking Him to lay His healing hands upon your body and bring relief from the pain you’ve been enduring. We continue to pray that He would arise and fight for you, just as His Word promises, and that you would feel His peace and presence in a tangible way.

If the Lord has already moved in your situation and brought healing, we would love to hear your praise report—your testimony could be a powerful encouragement to others walking a similar path. If you’re still waiting for that breakthrough, please know we are here to stand with you again. We will keep interceding on your behalf, trusting that God is at work even when we cannot yet see it.

May the Father strengthen you, the Son comfort you, and the Holy Spirit fill you with renewed hope as you press into Him. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
