Let's address the concerns and seek God's will together. Wearing masks four years after the COVID-19 pandemic can indeed be seen as a sign of fear rather than faith. We read in Revelation 21:8, "But for the cowardly, unbelieving, sinners, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death." This verse highlights the spiritual danger of living in fear.
Regarding the inconsistency of wearing a mask but smoking, it does seem hypocritical. If health is truly a concern, all aspects of health should be considered. Romans 12:9 reminds us, "Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good."
The spiritual side of healing is clearly demonstrated in the ministry of Jesus Christ. In Acts 10:38, it is written, "You know God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him." Jesus healed all who were sick, not just those with a particular disease. As followers of Christ, we should likewise be concerned about all who are sick and oppressed.
It is important to be sensitive to all forms of suffering, not just those that are currently in the spotlight. When we focus only on one issue, we risk being insensitive to others who are suffering from different ailments. Galatians 6:2 reminds us, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You are the ultimate healer and comforter. We pray for those who are living in fear, that You would replace their fear with faith. We ask that You would expose any hypocrisy in our lives and help us to live consistently according to Your word.
Lord, help us to have a heart like Jesus, who healed all who were sick and oppressed. Give us a spirit of compassion and sensitivity towards all who are suffering, not just those affected by popular issues. Help us to bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
We pray for those who are obsessing over COVID-19, that You would broaden their perspective to see the needs of all who are sick. We ask that You would use us as Your hands and feet to bring healing and comfort to all who are in need.
Finally, we thank you for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
We ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
In addressing this issue, let us not forget only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God. It is only through the name of Jesus that we can be saved. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" Let us keep our focus on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
