more quality time with Jesus Christ

We rejoice with you in this beautiful and godly desire to spend more and more quality time with our Lord Jesus Christ, for this is truly the heart of our faith and the greatest need of our souls. We join together with you in asking our Heavenly Father to draw you ever closer into intimate fellowship with Him, and we thank Him that He has already placed this hunger within you.

The Word reminds us that God desires this closeness with us even more than we desire it with Him. James 4:8 tells us Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Jeremiah 29:13 promises You will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. And Jesus Himself calls us to this abiding relationship when He says in John 15:4 Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. Your longing to dwell with Him reflects the heart of Psalm 27:4, One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in Yahweh’s house all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace in the precious and powerful Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for our dear one who longs to spend more quality time with You. Father, we ask that You stir this holy hunger even deeper and help them to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness as You have commanded in Matthew 6:33. Grant them discipline and delight to set apart time each day to be still before You, to know that You are God as Psalm 46:10 teaches. Help them to turn away from distractions and the busyness of this world, and to find a quiet place to meet with You in prayer and in Your Word. Open their eyes to see Your beauty, open their ears to hear Your gentle voice, and fill their heart with Your peace and presence. Teach them to meditate on Your law day and night as Psalm 1:2 says, that their delight may be in You. Draw them close and keep them abiding in Christ, bearing much fruit for Your glory. We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue to be intentional about this time, for the enemy will seek to crowd it out. Choose a consistent time and place each day, even if it is brief at first, to be alone with Him. Come with your Bible, pray honestly from your heart, and simply be still and listen. He is faithful to meet you there, and as you remain in Him, He will transform your life and fill you with His joy and strength.

We are so encouraged by the simplicity of your desire to spend more quality time with the Lord. That hunger itself is a good gift, and we are glad to pray with you for it to grow.

One insight that has helped many of us is to think of this less as trying hard for a burst and more as training over time, like preparing for a long run. Small, regular moments matter more than occasional big efforts. Even brief, consistent time with Him has a way of shaping us gradually, and it helps to see ourselves as works in progress rather than measuring each day as success or failure.

A gentle next step that often helps is to choose one small, sustainable rhythm for the week ahead instead of trying to change everything at once. Perhaps pick the same quiet place and the same ten or fifteen minutes each day to be with the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Keep it doable, and if you miss a day, just begin again the next day with grace rather than guilt.

We are praying for you in this.

Father, we thank You for putting this desire in our friend's heart. Draw them closer to You and make their time with Jesus sweet and steady. Give wisdom for how to protect that time and joy in simply being with You, and let it bear fruit in daily life. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your longing for more quality time with Jesus Christ is itself a gracious work of the Holy Spirit in you, and it is a desire which the Lord delights to fulfill. There is no holier hunger than to want more of Christ, and no time is better spent than time spent with Him.

The Lord Jesus is thoughtful of your needs and He Himself says, Come and break your fast. He spreads a table before His people and invites you to feast with Him. As He fed His disciples by the sea with bread and fish, so He still feeds His own with food pleasant and easy to digest, the bread of His Word and the comfort of His presence. It is important that you should have this meal with Jesus at once, for many a battle is lost because the soldier is not in good condition for the fight. You need stamina if you are to do hard and long work for Jesus and His truth, and that strength comes only from waiting upon Him. When He is away it is night and nothing, but when you draw near to Him, the night of fruitless toil gives way to the morning of communion.

Yet take care that it is not mere outward religion. Many press around Christ as the crowd did, but they come not into real contact with Him. It is all mechanical religion without the inward touching of His person. What you seek is that mysterious contact where life and love flow from Him to you. That fellowship is often quiet. Deep waters are still. To abide with Him that day, as those first disciples did who came and saw where He dwelt, is the best part of any day and the beginning of better days. If you cannot even dream of a good thing in yourself, come to Him still as a sinner, as you came at the first, and your doubts shall flee away.

Bring to Him everything. Have you felt that you could go to Him with everyday burdens, but not with that special load. Why not also take that to Him. Prove Him with hard questions, the harder the better. Come to Him with your hard doubts, your hard cares, your hard obstinacy, for there is no question too hard for Him to answer and no burden too heavy for Him to bear. He says, Follow Me and Come and see, and you are perfectly welcome to come and see all that Jesus has to show you.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You have put this holy desire in this heart to know more of Your Son. Draw Your child into closer and more constant fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Help in the name of Jesus Christ to redeem time from lesser things and to sit often at His table, to hear His voice in the Word, to pour out the heart in prayer, and to know that real and inward touch of Christ which alone gives life. Keep from mere form and give true communion, that abiding with Him this day may become abiding with Him every day, until life itself becomes living with Jesus. Grant growth in grace, constancy in devotion, and joy in His presence. This we ask in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Savior, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your longing to spend more quality time with Jesus Christ is a good and holy desire, and it is itself a work of His grace drawing you closer. I join you in prayer before the Heavenly Father for this very thing.

Let us pray that the Heavenly Father will help you to seek Christ continually, to love His presence above all else, and to grow in fellowship with Him through His Word and prayer, in the Name of Jesus Christ. May the Lord give you both the desire and the discipline to come apart from the noise and distractions of this world, and to find a place of quiet where you can meet with Him. May He teach you to watch and be sober, to guard your heart, and to use your time wisely for what endures.

Remember how the disciples went up into the upper room and continued with one accord in prayer. They were watchful and steadfast, and in that waiting they were prepared for what God would do. So also you are called to such steadiness. While we have opportunity, let us store up confidence and gather oil in abundance, removing our treasure into heaven, so that when we need it we may enjoy it. This does not come from idle leisure, but from intentional time with the Lord, letting His prayers and admonitions purge away what stains the soul and make you solid and well instructed in virtue.

Ask the Father to help you establish a regular pattern of prayer and reading of Scripture, to keep your soul in calm even when the waters rage around you, and to find tranquility to breathe and be renewed in Christ. As you give yourself wholly to these things, you will not only wash away what hinders you but gain great profit for the future, and you will pass this present life in the best manner and attain the good things to come.

May our Lord Jesus Christ, by His grace and love toward us, grant you a deeper hunger for Him, a more faithful walk with Him, and the joy of His presence each day, to the glory of the Father together with the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.
