more quality time with Jesus Christ

Your desire to spend more quality time with Jesus is a precious desire, and it is one that God Himself places in the heart. Prayer does not begin with us trying to convince God or change His mind. It begins with God and His purposes, and He lays those purposes on our hearts so that we come into harmony with Him. When you long for more fellowship with Him, that longing is an open door for Him to do what He already desires to do in your life, because He will not force that fellowship but invites you into it.

What you are seeking is not simply more minutes in a day, but a different kind of life. The Scriptures teach that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life. That life is not only about how long it lasts, though it does last forever, it is about its quality. It is a rich and full life, marked by righteousness, peace and joy, the very quality of life that was seen in Jesus Himself. That is why people were drawn to Him. You were created for this very purpose, to live in fellowship with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ, and there is a fullness of joy that comes from that fellowship, especially as you spend time with Him in prayer and in His Word.

Jesus Himself, though He is the Son of God, made prayer central to His life for strength and guidance. How much more do we need that same communion. Like the man who came to Jesus at night to have private time away from the crowds, it helps to set aside quiet, one to one time with the Lord, away from distraction. Our time on earth is short and limited, while God dwells outside of time, and only what we invest in Him and in eternal things will last. That means redeeming the time He has given you and gently putting aside what displaces Him. Anything that takes the place of God in our devotion, anything that comes between us and Him and begins to occupy our heart and mind, can become an idol that weakens fellowship. Choosing less time with empty distractions and more time in the Word, in prayer, and in walking in His love helps keep that fellowship clear. Keep continuing in prayer and do not give up. Scripture shows that God sometimes delays an answer, as He did with Hannah who prayed for a son, not because He does not hear, but because He has a purpose in the waiting and is bringing our hearts more fully into harmony with His will. True prayer seeks for His will to be done and His purposes to be accomplished through us.

Let us pray together for you. Heavenly Father, thank You for placing this hunger for more of Jesus in this heart. Draw this dear one into deeper fellowship with You through Your Son. Help them to abide in Christ, to keep Your Word before them, and to walk in Your love. Teach them to redeem the time and to find quiet moments to be with You, and let that time be rich with Your peace and joy. Remove anything that would crowd You out, and fill their life with the quality of life that is found only in Jesus. Let their joy be made full as they see You working and answering prayer according to Your perfect will. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
