More healing prayer needed

Almost three months ago I requested prayers for the resolution of pain from Chemical Epididymitis which can resolve in as few as three days. Unfortunately, the pain and discomfort continues. Since it’s now been three months, it is considered a chronic condition. I believe the original condition has resolved and the pain I’m experiencing now is due to Central Nervous System Sensitization which is a neurological condition where the brain and spinal cord become hyperexcitable, turning up the "volume" on pain and sensory. The central nervous system undergoes structural, functional, and chemical changes that make it more sensitive to pain and other sensory stimuli, the nervous system's "volume control" is stuck on high. In this state, the nervous system processes harmless or minor signals as dangerous or painful, long after the initial injury has healed. Also stress and anxiety play a major part, creating high stress levels that prompt the brain to treat sensory signals as dangerous thus turning up the pain volume even more! I need specific continued prayer that God, in Jesus’ name, will heal and turn down the volume on my nervous system by correcting the false painful messages my brain is receiving via the spinal cord (by creating new neural brain connections). Pray that God calm my anxious spirit and ease my stress and remove any mental roadblocks caused by anxiety. This is not an impossible ask since Psalm 139 says that God created my inmost being, knit me together in my mother’s womb, when I was made in the secret place, and knows my anxious thoughts. God’s miracle touch is needed. Thank you for praying and God bless.

We join with you in bringing this ongoing burden before the Lord and we thank you for sharing this update with us so we can continue to stand with you in prayer. We have heard your three months of persistent pain and discomfort and we understand how discouraging it must be when a condition that should have resolved in days has become chronic. We do not take lightly the suffering that comes from a sensitized nervous system where the volume of pain remains turned up high even after the initial injury has healed, and we grieve with you over the anxiety and stress that magnify that pain.

We take comfort together in the truth you have already clung to, that our God is the one who formed us. For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb Psalm 139:13 and you are fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:14. He who created every neural pathway and who intimately knows the intricate workings of the brain and spinal cord is able to restore and rewire what has become over sensitized. Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts Psalm 139:23 reminds us that He also knows your anxious thoughts and sees every mental roadblock that stress has placed before you. Nothing about your nervous system or your distress is hidden from Him.

We also cling to His promises for healing and peace. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3 and But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17. For anxiety, we are reminded In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7.

We lift you up together now in prayer.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace on behalf of our brother who is suffering. Lord, You are Yahweh who heals us Exodus 15:26 and nothing is impossible with You Luke 1:37. We ask in Jesus’ name that You would lay Your healing hand upon his body. We pray specifically that You would turn down the volume on his central nervous system, that You would correct the false pain signals being received through the spinal cord and brain, and that You would create new, healthy neural connections according to Your perfect design. Calm his anxious spirit, ease his stress, and remove every mental roadblock caused by anxiety. Grant him Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and let him experience Your rest as You have invited us Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. We pray that You would restore health to him and heal his wounds, and that You would make Your strength perfect in his weakness. We ask that You would guide his physicians and give him wisdom to steward his body well through rest, wise care, and casting his cares upon You day by day. Let him feel Your presence near and know that You are holding him even in this prolonged trial. We pray all of this in the mighty and healing name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only access to the Father, amen.

We encourage you to continue to cast your anxieties on Him daily and to rest in His care. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. Even when healing is not instant, He is at work, and He is able to bring restoration in ways that medicine alone cannot explain. Continue to seek wise medical counsel as God often works through those means, but keep your hope anchored in Christ who knows your inmost being and who is able to bring perfect peace and healing in His timing. We will continue to keep you in our prayers for complete relief, for a calmed nervous system, and for renewed strength and peace.

We have been lifting you up and we hear how discouraging these last three months have been. To expect a matter of days and then still be waking up to pain and discomfort every day is exhausting, especially when you also carry worry about what it means and why it is lingering.

You described it so clearly, the way your nervous system feels stuck on high and how stress and anxiety can make everything louder. That cycle of pain leading to worry and worry making pain harder to bear is a heavy one to live in, and it makes sense you would long for both physical relief and a calmer spirit.

As we keep praying, we encourage you to stay connected with your medical provider about the ongoing pain and the anxiety you mentioned, so you have experienced care walking with you medically while we continue to seek the Lord with you.

Father, we bring our brother before You in Jesus' name. You know his body intimately, how You formed him, and You see the pain he has carried for months and the anxious thoughts that weigh on him. We ask for Your mercy and healing touch according to Your will, for relief from pain, for rest for his nervous system, and for peace to guard his mind and heart. Give him wisdom, give his doctors wisdom, and draw him close to Your presence day by day. Quiet his spirit with Your nearness and help him to rest in Your care. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Thanks for your continued prayers, it means so much to me and is very encouraging. Unfortunately my doctor doesn't take my pain as seriously. I asked for an ultrasound which is the absolute best way to determine if there is still inflammation present. My request was ignored. Also he is unavailable. I need to see him regarding a Cholesterol issue and he isn't available until January. I need the Great Physician to heal me. He is the God of the Universe and needs no human assistance to completely heal me and restore my health. Praise God. Thanks again for your sincere concern.

Your request has been heard with much tenderness and we have brought it before the Lord who formed your inmost being and knit you together in your mother's womb, who knows your anxious thoughts and numbers all your days.

We are grieved to hear that this pain has lingered these three months and is now called chronic, and that what began as an inflammation has given way to a sensitized nervous system where the volume of pain remains turned high long after the first injury. You have described it well, that harmless signals are now felt as painful, and that stress and anxiety turn that volume higher still. We do not take this lightly, for bodily pain is too sharp to let us slumber in silence, and it soon urges us to seek the Physician. Yet we are reminded that the great Physician does not merely point out disease but applies the remedy, for the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and with His stripes we are healed.

We have prayed that the Lord, in whose hands are the healing leaves of the tree of life, would lay His hand upon your nervous system and graciously turn down that volume. That He who made the brain and spinal cord and every intricate connection would in His mercy correct those false messages, calm that hyperexcitable pathway, and in His creative power form new connections and restore right sensation. What is impossible with man is not impossible with Him who made you in the secret place. We have asked that He would grant you that healing which flows from Calvary, where pardon and healing meet together, and where the least thing about Christ has healing virtue.

We have prayed also for your spirit under this trial, for we know that the mind is the main thing, it will bring you daylight or midnight, peace or war, and that the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. Scripture gives us a sure word, You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. And we have asked the Lord to keep you in that perfect peace, that peace which the blood of Jesus whispers within even when sorrows surge round, that peace which passes all understanding and is not the false peace of this world but the blessing of being at peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. May He still that small voice of fear within and speak His own still small voice over you, calming your anxious spirit, easing your stress, and removing every mental roadblock that anxiety would raise.

We have asked that He would teach you to bear this sorrow with Him, to do His will and find rest even while pressed by this infirmity, and to trust Him day by day. If it please Him to lift this affliction at once, we shall rejoice to see the Sun of Righteousness rise upon you with healing in His wings. If He sees fit to keep you a while longer in the furnace, we pray He will give you inward peace that steals over the soul, and make even this trial work for your good and His glory.

Be assured you are not forgotten. We continue to bear you up before the throne of grace, asking our gracious Father to grant you relief, to quiet your nervous system, to renew your strength, and to keep your mind stayed upon Christ who is our perfect peace. May you experience that the healing power of the gospel is present to forgive sin and to heal, and may you go your way in peace, trusting Him who will in no wise cast out those who come to Him.
