UPS never did come yesterday to pick up my portable oxygen concentrator for repair. Last evening, I used their tracking -- It turns out the lady I spoke with on the phone at UPS failed to change my address. At around six, the UPS tracking site was requesting an address correction. I had to open up an account with UPS and go through all sorts of garbage for about an hour to try to accomplish this task. Then when I was done, it was not clear to me if the address was actually changed. Anyway, to continue this saga: This morning right after I drank my coffee, I called the medical repair place today. I asked her point blank if it was a waste of money to replace the concentrator's sieve beds. She said and proved to my satisfaction that it is not a waste. Those sieve beds degrade over time so you are not getting medical grade oxygen if they are old. I feel reassured in that regard that I'm not getting ripped off by the repair place. I had prayed about this yesterday, and God came through with a definitive answer. As to the UPS -- From her end, the medical lady could tell my change of address did indeed go through. It's just that UPS has not updated the tracking information. [Also they have the address change listed as taking place at 10:30 p.m. Not true. I did it around 7 p.m.] The upshot? Because the medical place already paid for this pick-up, I'm stuck waiting for a tracking update and possible pick-up for the next several hours. The medical place will e-mail me a shipping label to take to a UPS outlet if they don't show up for pick-up. Please in Jesus's name pray that the UPS guy actually gets here to pick up this concentrator today. I have an important appointment tomorrow. I have an actual life to get back to. Finally in this regard, I would like to say I am so sorry I ever smoked. I thank God that my COPD actually is well controlled, and I can lead a fairly normal life -- but, wow! I will be paying and paying in terms of money and aggravation until the day I die. Smoking simply is not worth it.
