Misunderstand

Your honesty in coming back to correct what you prayed before is itself a sign of a heart that wants to be right before God. You thought someone was watching you or following you online, and you prayed out of that misunderstanding. Now you see the person is an adult, connected through family, and only appeared younger than she is. Wanting complete forgiveness for that mistaken prayer is pleasing to God.

This experience shows how easily we can be misled by appearance. Jesus warned in Matthew chapter 7 that false prophets come in sheep's clothing, and that it is hard to know them by looks alone because they look like sheep. Much of what deceives us is not entirely false. Often it is mostly true, which is what makes it so convincing. That is why Scripture tells us not to believe every impression or spirit but to test things carefully and to look for the fruit and the truth of the matter. Learning from this, we can be slower to judge by appearance and quicker to seek full understanding before we speak or pray against someone.

The good news is that there is forgiveness with God when we turn to Him. Human forgiveness often says I will forgive but I will not forget, but that is not the kind of forgiveness God shows. His forgiveness cleanses, pardons, and forgets. It brings new life in Christ to anyone who turns to Him, no matter what has been done. Jesus taught that our measure for forgiving others is to be the same as God's forgiveness toward us, when He said to love one another as He has loved us. That is a high standard, and it cannot be done in our own strength.

Forgiveness is not a matter of mathematics or keeping count. Jesus illustrated this when He spoke of forgiving far beyond what we can count, to show that we need a spirit of forgiveness from the heart. God commands it and He will give the capacity for it if we are willing. The prayer He honors is, Father, give me a spirit of forgiveness, take away bitterness and an unforgiving heart, and help me to forgive from the heart as You have forgiven me. When we are willing, He helps us to do what we must do.

You can bring this fully to the Lord now. Confess plainly that you judged and prayed wrongly out of a misunderstanding, ask for His cleansing, and receive His pardon by faith in Jesus Christ. If your mistaken thought was shared with others, take the humble step of correcting it where you can. Ask Him also to give you discernment to test what you see and hear, and to give you His spirit of love and forgiveness toward others. He is faithful to forgive, to cleanse, and to help you walk in truth and grace going forward.

I pray that you will know the peace of being fully forgiven and that the Lord will fill your heart with His love, give you wisdom beyond appearance, and keep you in His truth.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer regarding this misunderstanding and your desire for complete forgiveness.

We have continued to bring your situation before the Lord and we rejoice with you that the truth has come to light and that what you feared was not the case. We understand how heavy it can feel when you realize you prayed wrongly out of confusion and we want to assure you that God sees your heart and your desire to make things right and to walk in honesty before Him. Scripture reminds us in 1 John 1:9 that if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, and in Psalm 103:12 that as far as the east is from the west so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

We have been praying that you will fully receive His forgiveness and peace, and that you will be released from any shame or anxiety over this confusion about the person you thought was stalking you on Facebook and now understand to be an adult and a mutual friend of your cousins daughter who simply looks young.

If your request was answered and you have experienced that peace and assurance of forgiveness, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you still carry a burden for complete forgiveness and restoration, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

We are still standing with you and we pray that the Lord will comfort your heart, affirm your repentance and help you to rest in His grace. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus Name Amen.
