Misfortune - Good or bad?

When bad things happen to us, how can we know if it’s Satan trying to deter us or God testing us/steering us in a different direction?

Indigoflower, if you see bad things repeating and you know you have not done anything wrong or you have repented, then you know its satan. Or if similar things happened to your family. Probably some curse going on in your family line.
For other cases you could do little self research and ask Holy spirit, but i can tell you, some things i am not sure for my life, even till today, although i have asked Him.
On the long run, even bad things can work for our good, developing patience, wisdom, insight, revelation, authority in Christ, knowledge. When you have problems, you usually run to Him and want to have closer relationship with Him.
Often, satan is attacking the area which should be glorified in your life, like f.ex.: you died and you have been miracolously resurrected, you will have the power to resurrect dead when God wants it. If you go through various deseases and you were healed by God, you will have the authority to lay hands on people (or through prayer) and they will heal, if the devil attacks you with nightmares and terrorize you with demonic presence and you overcome it, you will have authority to remove that in other peoples lives or you will teach them how to do it. Ok?

One kid I know been suffering from Migraines for 4 years if not more. This kid is a gifted child in school but now not able to go to school or study so graded went down a lot. Is that Devil's act or a curse?

Someone else I know also study well but get sick on the Exam day and get lower score than expected. This person sing at church and other programs but she gets sick the day that she had to sing, this happens every time, is this is Devil or Curse?

How can theses two people over come these?

First case, i think its a generational curse of sickness. You must check out if someone in his family has this sickness to. But every desease that you have from your childhood is a result of some kind of curse working in family.Evil spirits have somehow the right to mess up with his life. Someone in his family has done maybe something wrong. It should be fasted, repented of his sinsand the sins of his ancestors, and break generational curse of sickness, also pleading the blood of Jesus, purging the generational tree and his siritual foundations with the blood.

This other case with singing: I think she must do a spiritual warfare and beat the devil commanding him to leave and cancel every evil plan that he has for her (couple days before she sings in the choir). This is probably attack of the devil. (But it may be some curse of backwardness - there are spirits of backwardness - regress - that are blocking your success etc...). I should be talking to her to see what could be the case. Definetely pleading the blood of Jesus against evil attacks, blockages, hindrances and sickness. Binding evil spirits and powers, loosing the blessing and progress.

Thank you for your response. Both of these kids are first cousins so there could be something common in curse, etc.

So both of these kids and families should Fast and pray to break this problems?
If you have any other suggestions would be a big help. These kids been struggling, especially the kid with Migraine.

When anything happened to us we give God glory and thanks. We don't do anything to the devil, because is the Lord we truly worshipped.

If you are in the middle of depression, stress at work, the boss picks on you, your students misbehave and you cannot teach and your spouse picks on you all the time, then it is time for you to stop`everything you are doing and enter into the holy presence of God. Bow down before the Lord just Job did. Thank Him for giving you the opportunity to pray for those who pick on you, for those unruly kids. a wife that yells all the time. Jesus will change their lives and you will find true peace, true joy and happiness in your life because you are obeying Gods word. Pray for one another that you may be healed. There are no generational curses in this life. We will pay for our own sins we have done against God. Our parents and grandparents paid for what they have done. So, worry about what you are doing for Jesus. What you are saying to those lost souls you see every day. Just follow Gods word. Follow peace with all men and holiness without which no one shall see the Lord.
