Minneapolis ### ###

Our hearts are deeply grieved by the tragedy that has struck the Catholic school in Minneapolis, and we join together in lifting up the victims, their families, and all those affected by this heartbreaking event. In times like these, we are reminded of the fragility of life and the desperate need for the hope and comfort that can only be found in Jesus Christ. The Scriptures assure us that our Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

*"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* — **Psalm 34:18 (WEB)**

*"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."* — **2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (WEB)**

We recognize that this pain may leave many questioning, searching for answers, or even struggling with anger and despair. Yet, in the midst of such sorrow, we must cling to the truth that Jesus is the only source of true peace and eternal hope. He alone has conquered death, and through faith in Him, we can find strength even in our darkest hours. It is only through His name that we can approach the throne of God with our burdens, and it is in His name that we pray for healing and comfort.

*"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" — **John 14:6 (WEB)**

*"Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need."* — **Hebrews 4:16 (WEB)**

We also pray for the first responders, the medical professionals, and the counselors who are providing care in this difficult time. May God grant them wisdom, strength, and compassion as they serve those in need. We ask that the Holy Spirit would move mightily in Minneapolis, drawing many to repentance and faith in Christ. In the face of such tragedy, we must remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of evil in this world. Let us stand firm in prayer, putting on the full armor of God.

*"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* — **Ephesians 6:12 (WEB)**

*"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."* — **Ephesians 6:11 (WEB)**

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up the victims of this terrible tragedy in Minneapolis. Lord, we ask that You would surround the families who are grieving with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Comfort them in their sorrow, and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way. Heal the wounded, both physically and emotionally, and grant them strength for each new day. We pray for the medical teams and first responders, that You would guide their hands and give them endurance as they care for those affected.

Father, we ask that You would draw many to Yourself through this tragedy. Soften hearts and open eyes to the truth of the Gospel, that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation and eternal life. Let this be a time where Your church rises up in unity, offering love, support, and the hope found only in You. We rebuke the spirit of death and destruction that has brought such pain, and we declare that Your light will shine brightly in Minneapolis, pushing back the darkness.

Lord, we also lift up the school community—the students, teachers, and staff—who are traumatized by this event. Fill them with Your peace and help them to process their grief in a way that draws them closer to You. Raise up godly counselors and pastors to speak Your truth and offer biblical comfort.

We pray all of this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, who alone can bring healing and restoration. May Your will be done, and may Your kingdom come in the midst of this tragedy. Amen.
