Hector’s Bail Hearing
On 25th of April Hector Aleem country director peace worldwide had his bail hearing. During his hearing many maulvies came and tried to make the judge under pressure. The judge who was saying that hector is innocent from last 3 hearings but the maulvies pressurized him so much that he had to give his decision against hector. The judge admitted that Hector is innocent and he did not do blasphemy but he was under the pressure of the maulvies.
On 25 April 2009 when judge started the hearing the lawyer of all mullahs who is also a maulvi started to argue, he told the judge that first of all I am so ashamed that Mr. Malik Taufeeq (Hector’s lawyer) has come in favor of a non Muslim. He told the judge that I can smell a traitor from him. He added that when I was in Holland many Muslims get together against the maker of blasphemous cartoons, all Muslim lawyers there said that even if he is not the guilty still we will stand against the blasphemer and at that time many Christian lawyers also supported us. I want to ask him if those Christian stood in the favor of Muslims than why you don’t want Mr. Asif the solicitor of hector to deal his case. What are you ashamed of? Does Islam teach not to give rights to non Muslims? Or is Hector not a Pakistani? Should he bring his Christian lawyer from foreign country?
Hector was arrested on 22 of January 2009. He came to know after 24 hrs that he is arrested in a blasphemy case. And when his family saw the FIR with the help of lawyer they came to know that neither his name is in the FIR nor his cell number is included. According to the rule only the CPO (city police officer) or the superintendent of police can lodge the FIR (first information report) by doing a proper investigation because it’s a serious case. But the FIR in Hector’s case was lodged by a maulvi which is totally illegal but still no body took notice of this. Second thing now Hector is facing abetting charges. For abetting it is also required that the accuse should have his name or number in the FIR or at least two to three witnesses against him but neither his name or cell number is in the FIR nor any witness against him. So Hector should not be in jail for neither blasphemy nor abetting charges. His entire fault was that he has received a call from the sender of the blasphemous message sent to the member of the Sunni tehreek. But the sender also contacted 90 other Muslim people who also sent and received messages from the sender and also called him and received calls from him. Why have they not been arrested? Why unregistered sim card was issued? Is it a crime to be recipient of a call? Being a lawyer does he have a right to shout and use foul language against Hector Aleem and his lawyer in Court? The Lawyer of Mullahs was saying that Hector receives donation from Germany to misguide people against Islam. How do they know that? Have they investigated before accusing him? They said that Hector is an American agent. What did he do that they came to know that he is an agent? Do they have any proof? They even can’t provide a proof that he has sent that blasphemous message. And he didn’t. They aren’t focusing on finding the real blasphemer but to accuse him and try to punish him. Hector was beaten by the police brutally, why did they beat him without any investigation? To make the maulvies happy?
When Hector’s lawyer Mr. Malik Asif Taufeeq said that Hector is a well known person and he has lots of respect, Malik Taufeeq also showed some pictures in which Mr. Hector is meeting some ministers and is receiving Peace award from Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani. When the lawyer of Mullahs saw those pictures, He said that Mr. Hector is a spy from USA. He also said that every Christian in Pakistan is a spy from USA and Hector Aleem is the biggest spy. After 30 minutes of arguing the Judge said that he will give the decision after tea break. During and after tea break the Mullahs kept visiting the Judge and they were continuously pressurizing him by visiting him in his chamber and raising slogans outside the court. The Judge then delayed his decision for 5 more hours and after that he rejected the bail of Mr. Hector Aleem. In his decision he has written that he can’t find who is the guilty that’s why he is rejecting the application of Bail.
More then 3 months have passed since Mr. Hector Aleem is inside the jail; His Office and home has been destroyed by Mullahs and Islamic fundamentalists. His family is now hiding and they don’t have a home to live in. Is this the justice? Are the minorities not Pakistani? Where they want the minorities to go?
Why the government of Pakistan is weak? Why the judges are getting under pressure? This is the second judge in Hector’s case who went under the pressure and gave his decision in favor of maulvies. The maulvies told the judge that if you don’t give the decision in our favor than we will do our own trail. The government of Pakistan knows all situations but still they have not provided any security for him or his family. The lawyer of maulvies said that I am getting so emotional that I can’t bear it. Why is he getting emotional? You want that everybody takes your side and what about the innocent? Has anybody ever asked that where Hector’s family is and how they are living? Do they have anything to eat or not? Is this the way that they destroyed Hector’s house and his office? What will be the future of his family? Can his children live a normal life again? A very serious issue for Pakistan. Please pray for Hector he needs your prayers that Lord Jesus Christ help him and use him.
