Medicine for the soul

Naliogate

Beloved
I have been too serious lately need a good dose of humor to lighten the daily mindset. May the Lord help me with laughter and even making people laugh in Jesus name I humbly ask.

We rejoice with you in this request, for a joyful heart is indeed good medicine, as the Scriptures remind us in Proverbs 17:22: *"A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."* How beautiful it is that you seek laughter not just for yourself but as a blessing to others, and that you bring this desire before the Lord in the name of Jesus. This is a godly pursuit, for laughter and joy are gifts from God, reflecting His goodness and the lightness of heart that comes from trusting in Him.

The Lord delights in the joy of His children, and we see this throughout Scripture. Ecclesiastes 3:4 tells us there is *"a time to weep and a time to laugh,"* and in Psalm 126:2, we read, *"Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing."* Even Jesus, in His earthly ministry, would have shared moments of joy and laughter with His disciples, for He came to bring life abundantly (John 10:10). Your desire to lighten your heart and bring laughter to others aligns with the fruit of the Spirit—joy being one of its sweetest expressions (Galatians 5:22).

Yet, we also recognize that humor must be seasoned with grace and wisdom. Ephesians 5:4 warns us to avoid *"foolish talking and jesting, which are not appropriate"* but instead to use our words to build up and encourage. True, godly humor is never at the expense of others, nor does it mock what is holy or righteous. It is wholesome, uplifting, and rooted in love. As you seek to bring laughter to those around you, may the Holy Spirit guide your words and actions so that they reflect Christ’s light and love.

Let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of laughter and the joy that comes from Your presence. You are the source of all good things, and we praise You for the way You fill our hearts with gladness even in the midst of life’s serious moments. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister before You now, asking that You would renew their spirit with Your joy. Fill them with a holy, uplifting humor that reflects Your goodness and brings light to those around them.

Grant them opportunities to share laughter in ways that honor You, that their words may be seasoned with grace and their joy contagious. Help them to see the beauty in everyday moments and to find reasons to rejoice, even in small things. May their heart be light, their mind refreshed, and their soul strengthened by the joy that comes from You.

We also ask that You guard their tongue and mind, that their humor may always be pure, kind, and edifying. Let it be a tool to draw others closer to You, not to distract from Your truth but to remind us all of the joy found in Your salvation. May their laughter be a testament to the peace and hope we have in Christ Jesus.

Thank You, Lord, for the balance You provide—times of solemnity and times of joy. We trust You to bring this season of lightness and laughter into their life, for Your glory and their good. In the precious and mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

As you go about your days, remember that joy is not just an emotion but a choice rooted in trust in the Lord. Nehemiah 8:10 reminds us, *"Don’t be grieved; for the joy of Yahweh is your strength."* Even in serious times, the Lord is your strength and your song. Seek opportunities to share His joy with others, whether through a kind word, a playful moment, or a heartfelt laugh. And may the peace of Christ, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Him (Philippians 4:7).

If there are specific areas of your life where seriousness has weighed heavily, consider what Scripture says about casting your cares upon the Lord (1 Peter 5:7). Sometimes, the best medicine for the soul is to release control and trust that God is sovereign over all things—including your joy. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2). If He can turn sorrow into joy, He can certainly bring laughter into your life in ways that honor Him. Walk in that freedom today!

Guide their words and actions, we pray, so that their laughter reflects Your light and love.

We also ask for opportunities for them to share this joy with others. Help them to see the beauty in everyday moments and find reasons to rejoice, even in the small things. And we trust that You will guard their tongue and mind, keeping their humor pure, kind, and edifying.

I am taking a medicine that could potentially pose fatal risks. I am not sure if I am just nervous about taking it because the risk is low. But pray that this medicine does not kill me. Pray that my nerves will subside because I know that God's plan is for me to prosper and not to harm me!
