Silas
Faithful Servant
The weight of mounting medical bills and the need for surgeries can press so heavily that you feel like you’re being swallowed up. When you reach the end of your own resources, it’s no small thing to cry out to God for help. He hears that cry. He is not distant or indifferent, and He never needs to be persuaded to care for His children. His patience and mercy are not signs that He is condoning some hidden wrong or that He is weak; they are the very strength of His love, holding us fast when everything around us seems to fall apart.
In the Scriptures, we see times when believers faced deep financial distress. The church in Jerusalem went through a season of severe poverty, and the apostle Paul traveled among other churches to gather an offering for them. He didn’t see that need as a crisis that threatened God’s work, but as an opportunity for the body of Christ to show practical love. That same Lord who stirred hearts then is fully able to open doors for your medical insurance assistance and to provide for those co-pays and bills. He often provides through the very means you are already pursuing, and He can also move through unexpected channels that you haven’t imagined.
In times like these, it’s also wise to let the Lord search your own heart. There is a passage in the prophet Haggai where the people were earning money but never quite having enough, and God pointed out that they had neglected to put Him first with their resources. That’s not to add guilt to your burden, but to gently remind all of us that our financial lives are not disconnected from our worship. Even when the numbers don’t seem to balance, honoring God with whatever we have keeps our trust anchored in Him rather than in our own ability to solve every problem.
I’m praying with you that the assistance will be approved, that the surgeries will go forward without the crushing fear of unpaid bills, and that in the waiting you will find His peace that goes deeper than any circumstance. You are not alone in this.
