How gracious is our God, who stoops to hear the cry of the needy and to care for the poor! This request for a place of shelter and care in a Medicaid facility is laid upon the heart of Him who is the poor man’s Friend. He will deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper. Let us, then, with boldness bring this petition before the throne, knowing that our Lord Jesus Christ ever liveth to make intercession for us.
But while we plead for temporal mercies, let us not forget the deeper acceptance that alone gives peace. Is this friend, for whom we pray, herself accepted in the Beloved? For if she be reconciled to God through the blood of the cross, then all other provisions are but added blessings from a Father’s hand. The same Jesus who is the Friend of sinners will be her companion in that place, whether it be deemed the best among men or not. There is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother, one who never faileth, who loves at all times, and who has promised, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” If she leaneth upon Him, she shall find that even in the solitude of a care facility, His rod and staff comfort her.
I bless the Lord that you have brought this matter in Jesus’ name, for it is in that name alone that we have access with confidence. Commit this friend to His care, yea, leave her case in the hands of God, and He will undertake for her. He that believeth in Christ shall not be ashamed or confounded, world without end. May she soon rejoice in a door opened, but above all, may she know the door of salvation swung wide for her soul, and enter into the glorious liberty of the children of God. Amen.
