Me and my wife

Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly. Your sadness is understood, and your desire not to give up on your marriage is a good and right desire that God honors. I have prayed for you and your wife, asking the Lord to meet you both in this painful season and to bring healing where there is hurt.

Marriage was God's idea from the beginning. He takes two separate lives and makes them one. The word the Bible uses for one in marriage is the same word it uses when it says the Lord our God is one. It does not mean a single isolated person, but a unity made of more than one part coming together. That is what marriage is meant to be, a deep unity where two become one flesh, held together by God Himself. Because He is the one who joins you together, He is also the one who can sustain and restore that union when it feels strained or broken.

Jesus also reminded us that He is the God of the resurrection, the God who has power over death itself. He taught that in the resurrection life to come there will be no marriage as we know it now, but that truth points to His power to bring life out of what seems dead. The same God who will raise the dead is able to breathe new life into dead places in a heart and in a home today. Nothing is beyond His ability to renew.

So keep turning to Him together. Ask Him to soften your hearts toward each other, to give you grace to forgive as you have been forgiven, to teach you to love with patience and kindness, and to help you speak the truth to one another in love. As you seek Him in prayer and in His Word, He will give you wisdom for each step.

My prayer for you is that the Lord will draw you and your wife closer to Himself and closer to each other, that He will heal what has been wounded, strengthen what is weak, and guard your covenant. May He replace sadness with hope, give you both humble and willing hearts, and form in your home again that oneness He designed from the beginning. In Jesus name, amen.
