May I Completely Forgive Ken

I used to have a friend named Ken, have not heard from him for 8 years. After I met Ken, I got into a lot of trouble and did worse in school, and missed out on some good opportunities in life. Ken lied to me several times to use me, including for a few small amounts of money I gave him and he never paid me back. I am certain God has showed me Ken was placed in my life by the devil, and now, I must forgive Ken and completely let go of him and all memories of him and the bad times in life I experienced with and because of him. May I let go, forgive, and forget about Ken permanently.

Warmest greetings to you, dear beloved and special child of Christ Jesus. I am most happy to pray with you for your cause!

It is wonderful to know that you have chosen to forgive your friend. That is what God expects each and every one of us to do under the circumstances.

I know your feelings about the situation are such that bring you discord at this time as you have informed us. However, have you considered that he was in your life to teach you a lesson? You learned from the situation things you might not have otherwise experienced elsewhere. He brought you a certain degree of knowledge that is valuable in today's world. Therefore, imho, rather than retain the bitterness that appears to exist why not consider that now that you have forgiven him for what happened you will simply send Christian love in thought from the heart to him instead of forgetting about him by relating the experience as one where you feel God said he was placed with you by the devil. And you must be absolutely sure it was God who said that, although you say you are certain, but that is a difficult thing to do since God is omniscient, all-knowing, and I, for one, would find it very difficult to believe that God would tell you that one of His children was sent by the devil for such an occurrence.

We are here to learn in this world and learning does not always mean learning through purely benevolent means. However, the danger is in permanently banishing a person from our life, when we feel betrayed, who taught us a valuable lesson. This is yet another lesson that needs to be learned. That of simply releasing the situation to God but continuing to love Ken spiritually, as Jesus taught us that we must do, when He told us to "Love One Another" rather than to harbor ill feelings about what you perceive to be the bad times in your life. You must remember that even when Jesus was being crucified and feeling immeasurable pain in His body He said "Lord forgive them for they know not what they do." He did not say 'LORD, I banish them from my life forever because they know what they are doing and have hurt me.' If it were so, Jesus would have told us to not love our fellow man when a wrong has been done unto us. Instead, He taught us that just he opposite should be done.

So, it would be good to find a place in your heart for your friend who may have had his own lessons to learn about this situation and who may have already learned them the hard way. Forgiving him is right but forgetting him is casting a person whom God has created away from your life when God loves him also as he does you. No one is perfect in this life therefore, those who think they are, can cast the first stone as Jesus also informed us. Simply forgive but keep the thought that you learned from that experience and because people are not perfect they need to be encouraged to do that which is right in the eyes of God rather than to ostracize them from society or your life because they did something wrong to you.

The lesson here is to learn to come from a place of Love rather than from of a place devoid of it.
