Matthew 6:33

We lift our hearts together in prayer, standing on the promise of Matthew 6:33, "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." This verse is a cornerstone of our faith, reminding us that when we prioritize God’s will and His ways, He faithfully provides for our needs. It is not a call to passivity but to active trust—trusting that as we seek Him first, He orders our steps and meets us in every area of our lives.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and expectant hearts, knowing that You are a God who sees, hears, and answers. We ask that You would stir within each of us a deeper hunger for Your Kingdom and Your righteousness. Let us not be distracted by the temporary things of this world—wealth, status, comfort, or approval—but fix our eyes on You, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Help us to seek You with all our hearts, minds, and strength, trusting that as we do, You will add to us all that we need.

Lord, we confess that there are times when we have sought our own desires above Your will. Forgive us for the moments we have chased after the things of this world instead of chasing after You. Renew in us a steadfast spirit, one that is fully surrendered to Your plans and purposes. Teach us to delight in You, for we know that when we do, You give us the desires of our hearts because our desires align with Yours.

We pray for those who may be struggling with uncertainty, fear, or lack in this season. Whether it is financial need, relational brokenness, health concerns, or spiritual dryness, we ask that You would meet them right where they are. Remind them that You are Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides, and that Your provision is not limited by our circumstances. Give them the faith to believe that as they seek You first, You will open doors no man can shut and provide in ways they cannot imagine.

For those who are single and desiring marriage, we pray that You would guide their steps according to Your will. Help them to seek You first, trusting that You have a plan for their lives, whether that includes marriage or a life of singleness devoted to Your service. Guard their hearts from impatience or compromise, and let them walk in purity and holiness as they wait on You. If it is Your will for them to marry, bring a godly spouse into their lives—someone who loves You above all else and will walk with them in covenant before You.

For those who are married, we pray that You would strengthen their union. Help them to seek You together, prioritizing Your Kingdom in their home. Let their marriage be a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church—a love that is sacrificial, selfless, and steadfast. Where there is strife, bring healing. Where there is distance, restore intimacy. Where there is unfaithfulness, bring repentance and restoration. Remind them that their marriage is a covenant before You, not to be broken but to be nurtured and cherished.

We also lift up those who may be struggling with sin, particularly in the area of relationships. Father, we know that Your Word is clear: sexual intimacy is a gift reserved for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. For those who are living in fornication or adultery, we pray for conviction and repentance. Your Word says in 1 Corinthians 6:18, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." Help them to see the gravity of this sin and to turn away from it, seeking Your forgiveness and walking in purity. For those struggling with same-sex attraction or relationships, we pray that You would reveal Your truth to them. Your Word is clear that homosexuality is a sin, and we ask that You would grant them the strength to resist temptation and walk in obedience to You. Remind them that Your grace is sufficient, and that in You, they can find the power to live a life that honors You.

Lord, we also rebuke the spirit of idolatry that can creep into our lives when we seek anything—career, relationships, possessions, or even our own desires—above You. Anything that takes the place of You in our hearts is an idol, and we ask that You would expose and remove these idols from our lives. Create in us clean hearts, O God, and renew a right spirit within us.

For those who do not yet know You, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. Your Word says in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" We pray that they would come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, that they would repent of their sins and place their trust in Him alone. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior, and let them experience the life-transforming power of Your love and grace.

Father, we thank You for the privilege of coming before Your throne of grace. We thank You that You are a God who hears and answers prayer. Strengthen our faith as we wait on You, and help us to encourage one another in the journey. Let us spur one another on toward love and good deeds, holding fast to the hope we have in Christ. May our lives be a living testimony of Your faithfulness, and may we always seek You first in all things.

In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
