Matthew 11:28

We are blessed that you shared this precious invitation from our Lord Jesus and we take it to heart together.

In Matthew 11:28 Jesus says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. This is not a general call to try harder or to find rest within ourselves, but a personal call to come to Him. He alone can give the deep rest our souls long for, rest from the weight of sin, from striving, from worry and from weariness. In the next verses He continues, Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:29-30.

We love how this shows the character of Jesus. He does not turn away the weary, He welcomes us. He knows our burdens and He invites us to cast them on Him. Scripture reminds us to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 and Cast your burden on Yahweh and he will sustain you. Psalm 55:22. True rest is not found in circumstances changing, but in coming to the One who sustains us through every circumstance.

We also want to gently remind that it is only through Jesus that we can come to the Father and find this rest. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we have peace with God and access to His rest. If we have not yet come to Him in faith, this invitation is for us today.

We pray together for you and for all who are weary and burdened reading this.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You for Your mercy and for this gracious invitation to find rest in Jesus. We lift up every heart that is tired, anxious, heavy laden with sin or sorrow or striving. Lord, draw each one to Jesus, help us to lay down our burdens at His feet and to take His yoke and learn from Him. Forgive us where we have tried to carry burdens alone. Fill us with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and teach us to walk daily in the rest that Jesus gives. Help us to trust You more, to abide in Christ, and to find our strength and renewal in Him. We ask that You would make this promise real in our lives today. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep coming to Him daily in prayer and in His Word, bringing every care to Him honestly. As you learn from Him and walk with Him, He will give you rest for your soul, not just for a moment, but enduring rest that the world cannot give.

Thank you for posting this verse. It tells us you may be feeling worn down right now, and we want you to know we are praying for you and you are not alone in that feeling.

What has helped us when we feel that kind of heaviness is remembering Jesus' invitation is to come as we are, not after we have fixed everything or proven ourselves. He offers rest as a gift to receive, not a reward to earn. When burdens feel heavy, it can help to name them honestly before Him, even in a few simple words.

If it would help today, you might find a quiet moment to tell Him plainly what feels heaviest right now, without trying to tidy it up. And if there is a trusted pastor, friend, or family member you can share one of those burdens with this week, we encourage that too. You do not have to carry everything by yourself.

We are grateful you reached out.

Father, we lift up our friend to You. You see the weariness and the burdens they carry. Draw them close and give them Your rest and peace as they turn to You. Help them to know they are loved and held by You, and guide their next steps with gentleness and wisdom. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

This blessed invitation is indeed for you, and for every soul that feels its burden. Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. It is not come to Moses, nor come to the law, but come to Christ Himself, to Christ in Gethsemane, to Christ on Calvary, to Christ risen and ascended. There alone is rest to be found, when you lay your burden down at His dear pierced feet and look to Him alone.

Hear how large His promise is. He says, I will give you rest. He does not say in what part of the mind He will give it, for He will give it in every part. He does not say in reference to what He will give rest, for He will give rest in reference to everything. It is rest about everything, rest at all times, rest in every part of your nature. It is rest of the mind, or fixedness of belief, and rest of the heart, and rest of expectation. When the promise is general, you may take it in its widest possible meaning.

If you are weary, do not play with His promise, but be as ready in receiving as He is willing to be in giving. Do not begin with Christ and then go back to self. Let it be all Christ from first to last. Rest not till He puts forth His hand and takes you and pulls you in unto Himself, as Noah pulled the dove into the ark. If you cannot rest in the world, you may rest in the Lord. If you cannot rest in the church, you may rest in Christ. He is not weary of you, and He will not reject the soul that comes to Him.

May the Lord teach you to take His yoke and learn of Him, for He is meek and lowly in heart, and so you shall find rest unto your soul. May you prove your love to Him who is your rest by consecrating to Him the life which He has made happy, and may you be rooted and built up in Him, growing in Him, with your very life rooted in Christ. We pray that you will know this day the rest of the sinner coming to Christ, and the rest of the saint abiding in Him, and that you will find that His finished work is your sweetest resting place.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The verse you have shared is a gracious and true promise, and Christ speaks it to all who know their need. He does not call those who are strong in themselves, but those who are weary and burdened, especially with the burden of sin, and He alone can give rest.

Scripture teaches that there remains a rest for the people of God, and that this rest is not entered by hearing alone. Hearing is not sufficient for salvation if the heart remains hard and the life does not turn to Him in faith and obedience. For this reason we are exhorted not to harden our hearts, but to labor to enter that rest, lest we fall after the same example of unbelief.

To come to Him therefore means more than to hear His words. It is to confess your sin, to turn from it, to trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and to follow Him. He is the one who wrought our salvation by His own work, which is beyond our full understanding, and we receive it not by explaining it but by believing it. When we come to Him in this way, He lifts the burden of guilt and gives peace with God, and He gives strength to walk in His ways day by day.

I pray for you now that God will give you that true rest. May He show you your need and His mercy, draw you to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, soften your heart to receive His word and to obey it, and keep you from the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches and all other things that choke the word. May He grant you not only relief from weariness, but the deeper rest of forgiveness, of a clean conscience, and of hope that looks beyond this life to be with Him forever.
