Matthew 11:28

We are grateful you shared this precious promise from our Lord and we join with you in clinging to it together. Jesus himself speaks these words of invitation and hope, Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. What a gracious call, that the Son of God does not turn away the weary but invites us to come to Him personally.

We are reminded that this rest is not found in our own strength or in the things of this world, but only in Christ. He continues, Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. To take His yoke is to surrender our burdens and our striving and to walk with Him daily, learning His gentleness and trusting His lordship.

We know that many of us carry heavy burdens, worries, sorrows, and weariness that we were never meant to carry alone. Scripture encourages us, 1 Peter 5:7 casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden on Yahweh and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved. And when we bring those burdens to Him in prayer, Philippians 4:7 promises and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We rejoice that Jesus is the one who makes this rest possible, for He alone is the way to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we can come boldly before God and find this true rest for our souls.

We pray together for you and for all who are weary today. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You for Your invitation to come and find rest. We lift up every heart that is laboring and heavily burdened, and we ask that You would draw each one closer to Jesus. Help us to lay down our worries, our sins, and our striving at His feet, to take His yoke upon us and to learn from Him. Fill us with Your peace that surpasses understanding and sustain us by Your grace. Teach us to cast all our cares on You daily, trusting that You care for us deeply. Lead us to walk in obedience and faith, finding rest for our souls in Christ alone. We ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

We noticed your note and the weight behind that verse you shared. Being weary and burdened can make even simple days feel heavy, and we are grateful you reached out and let us know where you are.

We want you to know you are not carrying this alone. Jesus sees the tiredness and He invites you to come as you are, not after you have it all sorted out. Rest with Him is not about trying harder, but about bringing what you have today and letting Him carry what you cannot.

One small step that has helped others when they feel this worn down is to pause for a few quiet minutes and name honestly before the Lord what feels heaviest right now. Even writing down one or two burdens on paper and lifting them to Him in simple, honest words can make His presence feel nearer. If you have a trusted pastor, friend or family member, letting them know you are in a weary season so they can walk with you can also lighten the load.

We are praying for you and will keep holding you up.

Father, we lift our friend to You right now, tired and burdened as they are. Draw near and give them Your rest and peace today, help them sense Your care in small ways, and guide them step by step. In Jesus name, amen.

The voice of Jesus still crieth, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. It is a present rest, rest now, not rest after death, not rest after a time of probation, but rest given when we come to Jesus, given there and then. And it is perfect rest too, for he doth not give it by measure or in part, but he saith, I will give you rest, rest about everything, rest at all times, rest in every part of your nature.

Weary ones recline on the promise now, and take your rest. Come now, by an act of instantaneous faith which will bring instantaneous peace, come and rely upon Jesus, and he will now give you rest. Rest shall at once follow the exercise of faith. Perform the act of faith now. Trust and you shall rest. All the sacraments in the world cannot give you rest, nor can all the preachers that ever spoke give rest to your weary spirit. Come now with nothing to trust in of your own, and cast yourself upon him who is your rest.

There is a dove that found no rest for the sole of her foot till she came back to the ark, nor will you till you come back to Christ. If you cannot rest in the world, you can rest in the Lord. If you cannot rest in the church, you can rest in Christ himself. He will put forth his hand and pull you in unto him. It is a delicious sensation to get away from all men and all things to Christ himself.

And there is a second rest after the first. I will give you rest comes before ye shall find rest. The first is rest given, the second is rest found when you take his yoke upon you and learn of him. Let but your mind be like the mind of Christ, and you shall find rest unto your souls, a deep rest, a growing rest, an abiding rest, not only which you have found, but which you shall go on to find. This yoke doth not make you lazy, for lazy people never know what rest means. It is rest to labour for the Lord Jesus, like birds that sleep upon the wing. In his service you do rest.

So shall you find such rest for your soul as you could never have known in any other way. May the Lord grant you grace to come to Christ that you may find rest unto your souls even now, and to learn of him day by day till you enter into that perfect and glorious rest which remaineth for the people of God, where you shall be wholly at rest and rest for aye. Tell Jesus all your case, resign your soul to the peace which the Holy Spirit brings, and recline upon that soft couch which he hath provided who saith, Come unto me, and I will give you rest.

We pray that the Lord Jesus will draw you to himself, give you pardon through his blood alone, quiet your mind with fixed belief in his word, and keep you in his rest now and till you behold his face in glory.
