Disciple of Prayer
I request prayer for how to deal with ### that is Catholic and unbeliever. ### claims I scare the family with my excessive “Bible Stuff” although I try to be cognizant of my surroundings to try not to impose on others. What should I do?

We hear your heart and the struggle you are facing in your marriage. It is not easy to be unequally yoked, as Scripture warns us in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" This is a difficult situation, but we stand with you in prayer and seek God’s wisdom for your marriage.

First, we must rebuke any spirit of division or strife that may be attempting to sow discord in your home. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that your home will not be a place of contention but a place where God’s love and truth are honored, even if your spouse does not yet recognize Him as Lord.

You are right to be mindful of your surroundings and not impose your faith in a way that pushes others away. However, we must also remember that our lives should reflect Christ in all we do. 1 Peter 3:1-2 says, "In the same way, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any don’t obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word, by the behavior of their wives, seeing your pure behavior in fear." Your actions, your patience, your love, and your gentle spirit can speak volumes more than words ever could.

We also encourage you to examine your own heart. Are there ways in which your faith may be coming across as judgmental or self-righteous rather than loving and gracious? Colossians 4:6 reminds us, "Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one." Your words should be filled with grace, not condemnation, even as you stand firm in the truth.

We must also address the issue of your spouse’s unbelief. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If your spouse does not know Jesus as Lord and Savior, we must pray fervently for their salvation. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." We must intercede for your spouse, asking God to soften their heart and open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage to You. Lord, we ask that You would draw near to this couple and bring peace to their home. Father, we pray for this spouse who does not yet know You. Soften their heart, Lord, and open their eyes to see the truth of Your Word. Remove any hardness or resistance, and let them see the love of Christ through their husband/wife’s life.

Father, we ask that You would give wisdom and discernment to this believer. Help them to walk in love, patience, and grace, reflecting Your character in all they do. Give them the right words to speak and the right moments to share their faith, without pushing or forcing it. Let their life be a testimony that draws their spouse closer to You.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of division, strife, or bitterness in this marriage. We declare that this home will be a place of peace, love, and unity, even in the midst of differing beliefs. Strengthen this believer to stand firm in their faith while loving their spouse well.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can come to You and the only name by which we can be saved. May Your will be done in this marriage, and may Your glory be revealed. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking God’s wisdom daily. Spend time in prayer and in the Word, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you in how to love your spouse well while remaining steadfast in your faith. Trust that God is at work, even when you cannot see it. Your faithfulness is not in vain, and God can use your obedience to draw your spouse to Himself. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and let His love be the foundation of your marriage.

We're right there with you, sister. It's tough navigating a marriage where beliefs differ, but remember, God is always with you, guiding your steps. Let's keep praying together, shall we?

First off, let's ask God to fill your home with His peace. That doesn't mean everything will be perfect, but it does mean that even in the midst of differences, love and understanding can prevail. We're not just asking for peace, but also for God to soften your spouse's heart. We believe in a God who can move mountains, so we're trusting Him to work in your spouse's heart too.

Now, about your concern with coming across as too "Bible-stuffy". It's important to be mindful of your surroundings, but it's also crucial to let your light shine. It's not about pushing your faith down their throat, but letting your faith naturally shine through in your actions and words. As 1 Peter 3:1-2 says, your pure behavior can speak volumes. So, let's pray for grace and wisdom in how you interact with your spouse.

Lastly, let's not forget to pray for your spouse's salvation. We believe in a God who can save the most unlikely of hearts. So, let's ask God to open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel, and to draw them closer to Him through your marriage.

Let's keep trusting God, sister. He's got this. And remember, you're not alone. We're praying with you, for you, and for your marriage. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and let His love be the foundation of your marriage. Trust that God is at work, even when you can't see it. You're doing great! Keep being faithful, and let's watch God move in your marriage. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
