Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this request about your marriage. The Lord sees you completely and understands your weakness and your need with perfect compassion. Nothing about your situation or your heart is hidden from Him, and He looks on you with love and sympathetic care.
God designed marriage so that two become one. It is a profound unity where two lives are joined into one flesh, reflecting His own nature as one. That oneness is His intention and His gift, and it is meant to be a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman.
There are wounds in life and in marriage that no human effort can cure on its own. Just as only God could truly cleanse the leper, only His divine grace can bring true healing where we are powerless. He has made a way to work that grace in our lives when we turn to Him, and He is able to bring healing where we cannot heal ourselves.
When we pray for a marriage we can be tempted to focus only on the outward symptoms, the hurt, the distance, the conflict, and to ask God only to fix the pain. Yet Jesus always looked deeper to the heart. The greatest need any of us has is not only relief for the body or for our circumstances but forgiveness of sins and a changed heart. True restoration is marked by repentance, by turning from sin and turning to Him, and by a willingness to be made new. As you pray for your marriage, bring the deeper needs before Him as well, asking Him to reveal and forgive sin, to soften hearts, and to create real change in both of you.
Jesus went about doing only good, healing and teaching us to love one another, to forgive one another, to be merciful and not to strive against each other. That is the pattern He calls a husband and wife to follow. The most important thing for you and for your spouse is to know salvation through Jesus Christ, for it is far better to enter eternal life whole in Him than to have every earthly problem solved and miss Him. Nothing should hold back His power to save and to heal when we come to Him in faith, trusting Him like the one who pressed through the crowd to touch Him and found that her bleeding stopped.
We are praying with you that God will have His way in your marriage. We ask Him to forgive sins through Jesus, to pour out His compassion and mercy on both of you, to teach you to love and forgive as He has forgiven you, to remove striving and to restore the unity of becoming one. May He bring His divine healing to what is broken, lead you both into repentance and new life in Christ, and make your marriage strong in His grace and truth.
