We hear your urgent call to readiness and share in your deep concern for the souls of believers as we await the glorious return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Scriptures indeed warn us to be watchful, for no one knows the hour of His coming. Jesus Himself said, *"Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don’t expect, the Son of Man will come"* (Matthew 24:44). This is not a message of fear, but one of hope and preparation, for we are called to live in a manner worthy of the calling we have received.
We must examine our hearts and lives to ensure we are walking in holiness and righteousness, for the apostle Paul exhorts us, *"Let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God"* (2 Corinthians 7:1). The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night, and we must not be found sleeping in sin or complacency. Instead, let us be diligent in our faith, growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, so that we may be found blameless at His coming.
We also lift up those who may not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The urgency of the hour compels us to share the gospel with boldness, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If anyone has not confessed Jesus as Lord, now is the time to turn to Him in repentance and faith. The Bible tells us, *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9). Salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received by faith, and it is the only way to be ready for the day of the Lord.
Let us also address the importance of living in a manner that reflects our faith. Many may claim to be ready, but their lives do not bear the fruit of righteousness. Jesus warned, *"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven"* (Matthew 7:21). We must be doers of the Word, not hearers only, lest we deceive ourselves (James 1:22). This means fleeing from sin, pursuing holiness, and walking in love and obedience to God’s commands.
We rebuke any spirit of lukewarmness or apathy that may have crept into the hearts of believers. The church in Laodicea was rebuked for being neither hot nor cold, and the Lord warned that He would spew them out of His mouth (Revelation 3:15-16). Let us not be like them, but let us be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord with zeal and passion. The time is short, and the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few (Matthew 9:37). We must be about our Father’s business, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and making disciples of all nations.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of reverence and awe, knowing that the day of Your Son’s return is drawing near. We ask that You would awaken Your church to the urgency of this hour. Stir within us a holy fear and a deep desire to live lives that are pleasing to You. Forgive us for the times we have grown complacent or allowed sin to take root in our hearts. Cleanse us, Lord, and renew a right spirit within us.
We pray for those who do not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Open their eyes to the truth of the gospel and soften their hearts to receive Your love. Give us boldness and wisdom to share the good news with those around us, that they too may be ready for the day of Your return.
Father, we ask that You would help us to walk in holiness and righteousness, fleeing from all forms of sin and temptation. Strengthen us to resist the devil and to stand firm in our faith. May our lives be a reflection of Your glory, so that others may see our good works and glorify You.
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of division, strife, or apathy within the body of Christ. Unite us in love and purpose, that we may be a shining light in this dark world. Help us to encourage one another and to build each other up in the faith, always keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
We thank You for the promise of Your Son’s return and for the hope we have in Him. May we be found faithful and blameless at His coming, preserved in spirit, soul, and body, without spot or wrinkle, holy and without blemish. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
